Review summary

This cruise offered a nice selection of ports but was unorganized at every turn. The food was awful and many of the staff were just plain rude. The entertainment in the main theater was less than professional quality compared to other ships we've been on. The balcony cabin was very nice. We will not cruise MSC again.

The Portofino Excursion was pretty but nothing to do except sit in the square and have a pastry.

Marseille (Provence), France

It was Sunday and the town was closed.

The weather was bad so we couldn't dock.

Cagliari, Sardinia

Our tour to the Temples was interesting but the multiple languages required by the tour guide made it difficult. Also, we did not get both of the city tour sites we were promised.

Valletta, Malta

The place is beautiful, but the port authorities are unorganized. The return to the ship required very long lines not once, but twice. Once through security and again for the ferry. We were late departing because of this. Our guide on the excursion had to wrestle with multiple languages and did not handle it well. Everyone in every language was board. This excursion was also cut short.

Messina, Sicily

We took the Taormina excursion. Excellent guide, beautiful town. Nature provided a thunderstorm show over the mountains as we departed after sundown.

Naples, Italy

Naples is a very polluted and dirty city. Graffiti is everywhere. The Capodimonte Museum was a beautiful place with a huge park around it. A stark contrast to the rest of the city. The hop on hop off bus at $23 Euros was a great deal. The airport in Naples is small, but well appointed.
