Review summary

Overall, just OK. Great private island but felt nickeled and dimed the whole time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. Less than 45 mins total.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining and buffet were decent. Any other restaurant is an upcharge and the food was just good. I didn't have a single meal where I left saying OMG that was great. The taco place was the tastiest of them all.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Activities were repetitive throughout the week. Trivia, Bingo, Dance lessons and arts and crafts.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Houdini show was very good, the Circus Rock show was canceled due to the weather and the ship's rocking. The other "magic shows" and the "LIVE" show was not good. Very low budget and cheesy.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My 6yr old LOVED the kid's club. The young lady at the front desk named Nirvana was a delight and she greeted you with a beautiful smile every time.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The waiters we had were very good and pleasant. The staff everywhere else where such as bars and buffet were short and quick with the interactions.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is nice. I wish I got to see more but EVERYTHING is an upcharge. My friend got a $180 50 min massage but she wasn't aloud to use the Thermal area after because that was "separate" and they wanted to charge her another $95. I've been to many spas at resorts that have "Thermal areas" and they have always been included with the service. I was shocked when they said she couldn't use them after her treatment. They dont have any trash cans anywhere so people were leaving trash all over. The staff was trying to keep up with it though. I constantly saw dedicated cleaning staff all over the ship. The public bathrooms were spotless and the rugs were being vacuumed around the clock. You will be doing a lot of walking on the ship. Our room was middle towards the back and most things were either in the very front or very back of the boat so a lot of back and forth walking. (I don't mind the walking but wanted to note that in case you need a wheel chair or assistance walking)

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our balcony cabin was on the 14 floor below the back of buffet area. I was nervous that it would be very loud with the chairs moving and all the people walking around but I only heard chairs moving a couple times. The room itself was a good size considering we were only in it to shower and change.

Ship tip

Unless you are doing the "Yacht Club" then you will be nickeled and dimed. it's a low cost because nothing is included. The drinks have little to no alcohol in them. I don't normally drink but I "had" to get a drink package because my husband wanted one and all cabin members must buy one. Since I had a drink package I had a few drinks a day. It normally only takes me two drinks to get buzzed and I'll have a hangover off just the two. I had FOUR margs at dinner and felt NOTHING except acid reflux. I changed to prosecco and was feeling it after my second glass. You can get ice cream by the pool from 12pm-5pm but they run out early but they say oh we have gelato on deck 6 but it's $5 for the smallest size. Crepes said they were free on my one sheet but I never found free crepes, they were $8. There are no trash cans anywhere so people were leaving trash at tables, on the ground, in the hallways. I will say it was picked up quickly but still made me feel dirty just leaving my trash on tables.

Ports of call

Brooklyn, New York

It's Brooklyn, nothing to special about it. Line was long getting into lot but moved somewhat steady.

Port Canaveral, Florida

Getting on and off the boat was easy. We didn't have enough time here to do much so we ended up going to target for the little things we forgot. The shops on the ship were very simple and didn't carry much necessities. For example, my daughter's bathing suit was rubbing her raw so we went to the gift shop but they only had bottoms. The two tops they had were for teenagers and the bottoms were all very small for toddler/babies. Her goggles also broke but they only sold full snorkeling sets. I didn't see any suntan lotion at the shops or anything like that.

Nassau, Bahamas

The port itself was nice and clean. We did the swim with dolphins excursion. A double decker boat took us to the beach which was small. One side was 21+ but cost extra to go to it. One small section of the beach had chairs set up but was closed off to us. The restaurant there was basic but enough for lunch. The port when you get back has lots of shops and the workers are very pushy. The one lady told me $35 for a hat but would do $30 then got mad at us when my daughter, who is 6, decided she didn't want the hat but a ukulele now. Her attitude towards us became very nasty. Her sister intervened and said if we get both items priced at $35 each that they would do it for $40 total. As she is putting it in her hand held, 30 seconds later, she tried to up the price to $45. I said no, $40 like we agreed or nothing. Other than that other shop owners were also following you around trying to put things in your hands to buy so we just went back to the ship.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

The island is beautiful. We were unable to see the other side because it was a decent walk and my 6yr old is lazy lol We weren't sure or made aware of how to get a ride on the golf carts to get to the other side of the island. The Lighthouse restaurant was cute, simple appetizers but mostly just drinks. They had food trucks around the island which we had burgers and such.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
The disembarkation was HORRIBLE. Myself, husband and daughter got off the elevator and was escorted directly to the off elevators but my sister was told she had to get in line all the way at the other side of the ship. the line zig-zagged through the ship!! after finding her we waited a hour and a half to finally get off the ship because people were cutting the line every chance they could. People were screaming and there was almost a fight between several passengers.
