Review summary

Only reason we use MSC is for their private island in the Bahamas so we decided to give them a shot for Bermuda what a mistake that was, never again! Oh and we’ve been trying to reach customer service about our experience and guess what…..crickets

The people at the Newark port for MSC cruise were awful, rude, and should not be employees in the hospitality business. It took 5 hours to just make it to checkin as there is no system of organization. When you don’t have this then the employees became agitated and started yelling at people and just being rude. Will never go with MSC out of Newark again!

MSC changed the itinerary while we were in line to checkin due to weather so no more Bermuda hello staying on the ship for basically 5-6 days. Nope, who wants to do that. Unfortunately and fortunately we had to cancel the cruise right as we checking in due to not being able to notify my employment of the country change. The employees with MSC customer service while at checkin were again awful. One lady even had the nerve to yell at me and say “look at me when I’m talking to you”. I’m 45 years old, when I said excuse me the other employees turned away as in embarrassment from the other employee. Never again MSC.

Never have been treated this bad by a place of service ever! Read above for just the tip of everything. You could just hear all the moans and gripes of everyone standing in-line for over 5 hrs of how the MSC employees were talking to cruise customers. MSC you really should consider hiring a completely new staff at Newark or leave the port for good. We have been on many MSC cruises and have had similar experiences with you in other locations as well. I get it that the employees have to talk loud to get peoples attention but being outright rude and belittling is uncalled for and unprofessional!

MSC Meraviglia doesn't dock in New Jersey it docks in Brooklyn, NY. Sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise.

PaulyJC, many people who work in jobs that require a security clearance need to pre notify their employer before visiting a foreign country. They would not be able to switch and go to Mexico when they were only approved to visit the Bahamas. Sounds like he could have stayed on board at the new ports but chose to cancel instead. Since cruise ports often change, that is a risk they take when choosing a cruise vacation.

Sorry for your experience, but it's inappropriate to leave a review for a cruise you didn't actually take. Leaving one star reviews for the food, cabins, activities, etc is wildly unhelpful for people who are interested in learning more about the cruise and ship.

Not that I'll get a reply, but what does this statement actually mean: "Unfortunately and fortunately we had to cancel the cruise right as we checking in due to not being able to notify my employment of the country change."? Why would you notify your employer about a change in your cruise itinerary? What did the cruise have to do with your job? Was your job located in Bermuda, and that's why you couldn't notify them or had to notify them? That was confusing to me.

The port where Meraviglia docks is in Brooklyn. Also the staff outside the ship are NYC customs/immigration and Brooklyn Port Authority. I agree that they are terrible but MSC is not responsible for their behavior. That's a NYC thing. But MSC can't be blamed for ditching several ports due to weather. I bet that lady that died in the Bahamas wishes she never got on that double Decker ferry that capsized due to the waves. When MSC cancels a port it's for your safety. You must not have been on a ship going through rough waters before, it's not an enjoyable time overall.
