Overall, the ship is beautiful and the change in itinerary was due to weather, so I don’t hold that against MSC, however, the dining options need to be looked at as well as maybe a few more activities, other than bingo and trivia to do during the day. This is also not my first MSC cruise. I have been on at least four of their other ships and I find across the fleet. They are all pretty much the same. They are beautiful and laid out very easy to navigate. However, dining options and activity options are not always high on the list

Food and Dining

The Edge bar with Bryon and all the guys were the best part of our trip. The food in the main dining room along with the buffet were awful. Buffet food was the same every day. Nothing different. Main dining room food was average at best. Nothing spectacular. One night the entire table of us did not eat it was so bad. There is also not a lot of variety of food places other than the usual places and specialty restaurants that are extra. Unless you wanted pizza and burgers.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Too cold for the pool and too windy for the ropes course. Didn’t do the bowling or formula one race car either. Not much else
Entertainment

Saw one singer that was ok and the Rock Circus which was an up charge but you got a discount if you booked the specialty restaurants. That show was pretty good. All others were always sold out
Children's Programs
Did not travel with children
Service and Staff

Most everyone we came in contact with were all great. Bryon in the Edge bar went above and beyond for my in-laws as towards the end of the trip my father in law was having some stomach issues and Bryon went to his cabin and gave them his own personal stash of Gatorade and also checked on them several times! Wonderful human and service
Ship Quality

Ship was beautiful and very easy to move around. Public spaces were always clean as were the public restrooms

For a newer ship there still is never enough places to plug in your devices. No plugs near the bed and the TV didn’t come off the wall and rotate so you could watch while in bed. And of course there is never anything on the TV when you just want to relax in your cabin. Mini bar remained locked the entire trip. Didn’t bother to ask why as I only use it to keep some bottles of water cold. Storage space always a minimum and bathroom seemed smaller. However the shower did feel a little larger with a glass door and good water pressure
The port was beautiful however it is a tender stop. 5700 people trying to get off and only 4 tender boats running. Waited over 2 hours to get off so by the time we got there we had 3 hours to look around because we were leaving at 3. Same situation with tender boats getting back onto the boat. Needless to say, we were two hours late leaving because it took all that time to get everyone back on board. We were supposed to leave at three and didn’t leave till five. Do better, MSC
This port was nice however, for unknown reasons we arrived two hours late into port. We were all left vouchers in our cabins to take a charter bus from the port to the market in Boston. For the price of $19 per person round-trip. When we got off the boat, we again had to wait an hour For the buses to start arriving because apparently, since we were late all the buses got sent away. The city was nice, and we enjoyed walking around and buying souvenirs and the weather was nice the last charter bus To the ship was said to leave at 4:30. We arrived at 3:30 and waited about 20 minutes for a bus to show up. So many people waiting. We had to catch a second bus that proceeded to sit there and wait until 430 for everyone else to show up
We arrived in PEI and it was raining. Walked through a little market for a few minutes and then the rain stopped, and the sun came out. Didn’t really do much, but walked the city
Absolutely nothing to do in this port. We went to an Irish pub and had drinks and then walked around a little more, took a few photos and got back on the boat
This one was the best stop out of all of them. We walked the city and had some lunch. All excursions from the ship were booked so we took a private tour in the afternoon to a lighthouse, and got some wonderful photos
Disembarkation is always a mess. No one ever waits for their number to be called and some people don’t put their luggage out the night before and insist on dragging it through. But that’s not MSC‘s fault disembarkation is about the same on every ship that I have been on so nothing different here. The only good thing was that we did not have to go through customs because the day of Portland before anyone got off the boat you had to go to a specific area on the ship, and check in with customs there before you could get off the ship
