Review summary

Overall, we had a good cruise with MSC, it was our first time cruising with the company. We love their itinerary. I think they definitely need to work on the menu and presentation of the dishes at the Ocean Cay restaurant. Also, the steaks at the butchers cut restaurant was bland have no taste or too salty, we went there twice and both time was disappointing.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a quick and easy as schedule

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We love the buffets, many options, and always have a fish dish which we love. Dining room dinner was fine with good portions, but limited menu. The most disappointing was the specialty restaurants. The menu was limited and quality of food was hit and miss, we will not buy the specialty package again.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We have a lot to do on the ship, fitness center, fun center, bowling, spa, a lot of shops and left the chocolate factory there

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The best show was the crew show, please keep it up

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We have an excellent room steward, he takes very good care of us, my personal trainer was exceptional.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship and love the layout

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our room was comfortable and clean, but wishing for more storage shelves and a little bigger bathroom

Ship tip

It’s a beautiful ship and great value for your money

Ports of call

Brooklyn, New York

4 out of 5
It’s a very tight port

Newport, Rhode Island Did not visit port

We lined up for the tender boat for an hour but still was able to get off the ship so we just went back to our room and forget the whole thing.

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
We love this port, not enough time to go around since it took too long to get off the ship and super long line to get back on the ship

Saint John, New Brunswick

4 out of 5
Nice port and we had enough time to walk around town and get back on the ship

Portland, Maine

5 out of 5
We love this port, so much to see in very good food

Sydney, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
This is a very interesting town, a lot to walk around by the cruise ship and a lot of good restaurants

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

5 out of 5
We hired a private car to drive out to see this port and had a great lunch at the pier before heading out, had a great day

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation was a little behind schedule but over all smooth

Thanks for your review. I agree with your view about the Butcher's Cut. Very bland steaks unfortunately.

Thanks for the details. Been reading about those shuttle delays on several ships lately. Wonder if the shirt staffing is the issue?
