Review summary

Do not go on this cruise line thinking - “it’s cheap but how bad can it be…” It is awful - I’ve been on Royal / Celebrity / Princess / NCL / Carnival. All of these have their pros and cons but they are clean and serve acceptable food. MSC is not any of these things. Bottom of the barrel cafeteria food on MSC. Overworked staff and understaffed ship. Don’t go!!

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Brooklyn cruise terminal is not set up to handle large cruise ships. Chaos and disorganized- no one helping to direct where to drop luggage. Cars took over 30 to enter the terminal area - one road in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
If you like burgers pizza hotdogs and pasta you will like this cruise. It is a three star cafeteria buffet. Dining room has no presentation- food just thrown on to the plate. Example process cheese slice badly melted onto chicken parmigiana. Dining room was loud. Servers were overwhelmed and trying hard. Felt bad for them.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Loud music everywhere. Not enough public areas for the number of passengers onboard. Ship design is low ceilings. Maximum number of cabins with very few public areas. Some shows you need to pay for I paid and the show was sub par and worse than you get for free on other cruise lines

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Sub par and not worth the time. Even the paid shows were horrible.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Over worked and under staffed - no service because there are not enough hired staff. Like a three star all inclusive resort.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Terrible design. Not enough public areas. Cabins awful beds. A full grown man would not fit in the single beds. Lumpy pillows. Like camping

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Too small. Two beds only fit in an L shape. NO MIRROR- if you plug in the hairdryer in the only plug in the cabin there is no mirror. Bathroom shower was good No storage - one closet and two drawers.

Ship tip

I have been on Princess celebrity NCL carnival and Royal This MSC is far below the other cruise lines. 3 star food - do not recommend

I honestly don't know what you're talking about. This ship is huge and I never felt like there wasn't room for everyone, in fact. I never felt like there was that many people on the ship. The buffet had Indian, Italian was amazing 😍 comfort foods like pot roast. We loved it. And main dining was amazing as well.

For liv the pay shows are $12 with included drink and are better than free shows. I will say shows not as good as NCL OR RCCL.

Thanks for your feedback. I was on this same cruise including the one before it. The one before it was absolutely terrible. I actually thought the second one was much better.

I have heard of paying extra on some lines to do some entertainment like roller coasters or go carts but never heard of paying extra to see a show!!! I’d never agree to this LOL

At least you liked the shower… Agreed that MSC is the lowest of the major cruise lines but I didn’t think it was bad.
