Review summary

We had a lush Christmas Cruise on Grandiosa, staff were very attentive and the ship is lovely. This was our son's 1st cruise and he's now hooked :-) The entertainment needs some work, as it felt a little basic and repetitive. The COVID restrictions were a little annoying, as we could only leave the ship on specific tour's.... but we were happy to be cruising again to be fair. All in all a great cruise holiday.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Considering the COVID hoops we now have to jump through, we found embarkation quite simple and well managed by the MSC team.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Had some lovely food in the MDR's and in the buffet

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty to do for kids and adults, we enjoyed the bowling... the arcade was a bit of a rip off though.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The entertainment wasn't great, theatre shows repeated and not the best quality.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our little one enjoyed spending time at kids club and we felt like he was being looked after safely

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service was good overall, although a little slow in some of the bars, felt like they were short staffed.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We loved the ship and it was kept spotless

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin was well laid out and kept spotless. There was enough storage for us (2A, 1C) but think you'd struggle if there were 4, which it does sleep.

Ports of call

Genoa, Italy

5 out of 5
Lovely Italian city, we took a walking tour to see all the sites and loved our time there. We will definitely go back and explore more of the area and further afield.

Marseille (Provence), France

5 out of 5
We took the tour to Provence, which is a stunning little French town. We loved it and will definitely go back to explore more of the South of France.

Valletta, Malta

1 out of 5
We took the tour of Malta, but found it quite grotty and nothing much to see. We won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
Good Port for access to Central Rome, which is around an hour on the train.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Really simple, breakfast, off and bags collected... no hassle
