Nice but expensive cruise by GilM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship charges extra for many things that are free on US cruise ships. For instance, no free coffee after breakfast, (10 am). The gratuities are automatically charged to your account, even though you may have received poor service. Your only choice is to give extra. This is another way for the cruise line to charge more for the cruise than the stated price. Some staff are ok, particularly the waiter staff in the main restaurants. Not so in the speciality restaurants, which are also expensive. Others are surly, particularly the reception crew, which Americans have to deal with regularly. You won't enjoy that part. The ship itself is very comfortable. Overall a fair cruise, just take along plenty of extra money.

A very enjoyable cruise by ZD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The evening shows in the big theater were too short and the content tended to be quite repetetive. The main courses at dinners were very ordinary and were not as good as those on cruise ships in the Caribbean.

Great MSC cruise by mantony66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: South America

Foi uma viagem tranquila com bons momentos em Buenos Aires. Pena que o entretenimento no navio não foi dos melhores. Mas recomendo apesar desse contratempo

An overnight success by neiltravels2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Fantasia

This was just a weekend away and so a short hop cruise between 2 ports. Nevertheless, despite boarding difficulties it was an enjoyable time and the ship is a tasteful mix of opulence and modernity, big ship facilities with a more intimate vibe.

MSC Fantasia is a great... by korpo024

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Fantasia

MSC Fantasia is a great ship, well maintained, with a so so staff. We had a very good room steward, but he just had too much rooms to do. Msc has not enough staff, that is why the service is just too slow and just okay. There was a toilet problem at the back of the ship. 40% of the ship the toilets didn't flush one night between 23.00 and 07.00 and we had a very bumpy sea...You can imagine what the cleaning party had to do the next morning... This flushing problem was not completely gine the next days, but never it was more than an hour. The new drink packages were all right, though we had still drink coupons from our previous cruises, so we still could drink whatever we want...They didn't know what to do with these drink coupons....They are fased out...But on this ship still valid. Costumer service was a nightmare. There was a line the whole cruise! I heard lost of people still wanted the service charge off their bill. We had so so weather...Normally the weather is much better at the end of April, but everywhere in Europe the weather is cold this year....Where is the Global warming they promised?😊 For the very good cruise fare we had a good cruise...But definitely not our best...But good enough.

I would never go on this ship again due to very poor service from the staff, however the ship was beautiful and kept very clean. The itinerary was brilliant. Get better staff and it would be fabulous

I've done 2 cruises in... by boeing1

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Fantasia

I've done 2 cruises in Australia, 2 in America and now 2 in Europe with MSC cruises.Musica& Fantasia was amazing experience with a 4000 passenger, its a big ship with pools and many hot tubs, but never found it to be crowded as many areas to relax around the ship. I chose to use pool at back of ship, as it's was more quiet there as children with nappy on, wasn't allow in the pool there. Would have prefer a over 18 pool area only, but this ship didn't cater for that. The staff were amazing, from dinner, room, pool staff were great.Reception staff were not the best to deal with, you call up and they don't my return calls to me or l don't get requested items to my room, after 3 hours of waiting. My room was a suite at the front of the ship, where I could see ahead, just like the captain could see. The views were amazing.Room was spacious with a walk in robe, loved having all the room in the wardrobe. The bathroom was nice and comfortable to use. Johno my cabin steward was excellent and provided a clean room on a daily basis.Dining experience was excellent with great menu with good quality food ,huge portions and waiters were wonderful.l would recommend a drinks package to be booked from home, so much cheaper then buying your drinks at dinner as there's the 15% tax on top of all drinks. We booked only two tours from home, cinque Terra and palmer de malcora dinner show, show incredible! Don't miss the show with dinner. Cinque Terre was my favorite, Beach's were stunning! If you don't book a tour from home, there is cheap tours to book with locals, when you get on the ports. Cheap as 10euros per person. Drivers were very reasonable to book on port too, we had one in Athens and palmer de malcora. Overall this cruise was excellent with minor staff isuues at reception. I would highly recommend the fantasia any day,the boarding experience was excellent and even disembarkation day, was so well organized and got off the ship in 30 mins to walk or taxi to genoa train station to board our train to Milan. Don't miss fantasia ship. Ciao tutti ELISA Australia

Great cruise ship, especially when staying in the Yacht Club. This was our 3rd cruise, the other two were in the Caribbean. MSC did a fine job and we would use MSC again.

Much to see with MSC Fantasia by cruiselili1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Europe

Many people but also calm places. Enough space at the buffet and very variations of meals. If you need something you just have to speak to the crew. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Of course there are many children on board in summer. I'ts helpful to take a highlighter to sign the important things in the Board News.

Were just home in Australia... by lindysutherland

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Fantasia

Were just home in Australia from a wonderful month in Europe. A week of which was a Mediterranean cruise from Rome on the beautiful MSc Fantasia. There is very little that we can fault with her and we loved every minute of our cruise. Staff were amazing and very helpful and friendly. Food was divine and there was no meal we could complain about. Even the buffet food in Zanzibar was unbelievable best ship buffet we’ve ever had. The shows were first class and always enjoyable. Our balcony room upgrade by MSc was much appreciated and it was great to be able to chill on the balcony (and dry a few clothes!) embarkation and disembarkation was sooooo quick and smooth even with over 4000 passengers on board. Ports every day were amazing. Only issue maybe was in a few ports where we needed a shuttle to get into town we were made to pay for that and I do believe it should be complimentary. Many of our friends ordered a drink package and we (stupidly) chose not to. We should have as its amazing value for money. And ordering drinks singularly incurs a 15% Service charged on all drinks!!! Apart from those few issues our cruise was just the most amazing experience. Thankyou MSc xxx
