Alas, Beautiful Puerto Rico! by DrDennis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean

Best entertainment ever on a cruise ship! Got better every night (Yep, there was a show each and every night!) The ship itself was beautiful and nicely designed.

Disappointed by lcira13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We just returned from our first cruise with MSC,on the Divina, ....service was very lacking... even during the less busy times of day, there would be 3 bartenders, and I'd be the only person at the bar, and they didn't even acknowledge me... I'd finally have to say "excuse me...can I get a drink please?"; this happened on multiple occasions! Forget about on deck service...in 7 days we were approached one time and asked if we needed a drink. The buffet was sufficient, but the other 4 cruise lines I've been on had higher quality and much more selection. Dining room...same quality as buffet but very slow service. The turn-down service wasn't impressive...the only thing we asked was to keep our ice bucket filled. Didn't happen. Kept having to set it outside the door. I met 2 staff members who were very pleasant and engaging...the rest barely acknowledge you. One young lady who I would like to acknowledge was a server from Jamaica named Melisa Johnson. Our first day on the ship I couldn't find where I was trying to go, and she personally walked me to my destination! Very sweet of her. Entertainment was so-so; the DJ at the disco not only wouldn't play any requests, he seemed insulted that I even asked! Some of the planned entertainment in the lounges was cancelled; so much for planning your evening with the daily activities brochures! Again, other cruise lines' were far better. I also did not appreciate that I paid for a 7 night cruise, but on the last night, they shut down venues, activities, and most of the buffet!  One of the most beautiful ships for sure, but I'd give up the glam for the more important aspects of cruising!

Ship was beautiful and very... by kellysm

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Ship was beautiful and very clean. Staff were very friendly. The food in the buffet was quit varied and what I had was good. The staff in the main dining room did not appear to be well trained in food service. Everyone at the table was not served at the same time. People did not always get everything they ordered. And service was very slow. It did get better as the week progressed. Main dining room is the only thing preventing all stars. I would definitely sail on this ship again

We Should Have Canceled!!!! They have ruined my vacation!!!!! by katburgess61

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We booked a cruise in June of 2017 and have had nothing but problems since we have booked.  I have at least 6 phone calls to their customer service over the same issues.  We were going to cancel, but upon calling to do so was promised all our issues would be taken care of and given a number to call the agent directly - well that is a joke, I have left messages and he never gets back to me, etc.  We are traveling with our children, 4 of us all together, and in two separate rooms.  When we booked we asked for early dining for both rooms - now months later, many phone calls later we are finally told that since we are in two separate categories (one inside cabin, one balcony) that there is no guarantee the one room can be seated for early dining and they are hoping that 3 days before the cruise when the eating arrangements are made that they will see we are traveling together and seat us together in early dining.  What a joke - and when I ask wouldn't you want to take care of this problem now whether than waiting until we are on board, but apparently they want us to wait until we are on board and see the MAMA BEAR in me come out.  Totally disappointed in MSC.  Another one of our problems has been that they switched a couple of us around in order to give us a discount and in that process they listed everyone as males.  When I called to have me and my stepdaughter changed to females the customer service representative argued with me that we put down that we were males when we booked the cruise and we would have to stay as males for the cruise - he absolutely refused to change this information.  I can only guess what would have happened with the heightened security if we were on the itinerary as males and showed up with passports stating we were females.  Again another issue that apparently they would like to address at the cruise ship and not beforehand.  Luckily in another phone call with them, I was able to get them to change this.  This has been a terrible experience and I never thought I was going to have to pack my Xanax to get through a vacation but I am thinking that is definitely going in the medication bag and I will be taking a Xanax the day we board the ship.  We can only guess with as much trouble as we have had beforehand with our reservation, what the experience is going to be on board the ship.  I am sure they are not going to be happy in the dining room when I insist that my children sit with me for dinner - I don't think that is too much to ask for.  MSC really needs to work on their customer service, their website (that's another horrible story and save yourself the aggravation and do not try to book through the website - but of course that means you have to get on to where you need to do that which is impossible to do without a phone call to the cruise line so they can tell you how (and the SO is an IT guy and he couldn't figure it out).   I am so fed up with MSC that I am really not looking forward to going on their ship and in fact, I am beginning to rethink taking formal clothes given the chance that we are not going to be able to eat together as a family, so why go through the process of taking all that extra clothing when we will probably just be eating in the buffet the whole week anyways.  Sorry MSC - you are already very disappointing!!!!!

Fantastic places but expensive excursions by 2DanesOnTour

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Just arrived back home from our 7 days cruise with Divina.

Overall we are satisfied with our cruise, but there have been times that the crew members could have done a better job regarding their cooperation concerning registration of credit cards, rescue drill an excursions.

We DID registrate our credit cards, we DID attend the rescue drill but somehow MCS did not registate our participation or credit cards - very reassuring!

We used a lot of time on speculation and getting these things fixed and that was indeed not what we expected to do on our holiday!

Regarding the excursions; we waited 20-45 minutes for every excursion (after the meeting time) before even leaving the ship, felt like bad planning and seemed very chaotic. And it was time away from the beaches, ruins or whatever we wanted to see. And that made it a bit stressful at the tourist attractions.

Food is terrible by egaites

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a very pretty ship, mirrors everywhere. Some staff was great, some not so attentive, especially at speciality bars. The food needs work, both from the menu and the buffet. Entertainment was ok. I would not cruise on MSC again. Luggage was lost for a day and a half which required multiple visits and phone calls before it was found. Definitely don't bother with room service. It was very clean and well kept, it's a shame the food was so bad.

I cannot say enough good... by Kevinhomebrew

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

I cannot say enough good about the divina. We were so sad when we heard about the ship moving to the Mediterranean as we were hoping to go again this year. Our house keeper Tony kept us well stocked with ice in the evening and coffee in the morning for all of our rooms. The baristas and the waiters were very attentive and friendly. One waiter even caught up with us at the bar one night and had a drink while we waited for our show to begin. We will be flying to Europe in the near future just to cruise once more aboard the Divina! Good times.

The ship was absolutely beautiful!... by megz85

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

The ship was absolutely beautiful! We had an upgrade from interior to a balcony room and it was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of space, nice and clean. The food was decent, I went into this reading horrid reviews so I was pleasantly surprised it was good. We did the dining package and I highly recommend the steal house and pizza! Both were amazing service and delightful on the tastebuds! Plenty of activities on board, just not as fun as the parties Norwegian put on. Adult only areas were strictly enforced as well!

I loved the Divina. This... by cruisemuppet

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

I loved the Divina. This was my second time, different initiary. The ship is very elegant and spacious. There is a lot to do on the ship. I prefer something quiet and found my happy space at the Garden Bar. I just love being outside with these temperatures. I liked the movies at the Aqua Parc and the live dvd's from Bon Jovi and U2 on the big screen. Didn't go to the theatre. I don't like housemusic or dancelessons. Just enjoying watching the see😃. Food in the restaurant(menu) is terrible, but delicious at the buffet! Service is slow, very slow. Just be patient😀and enjoy you stay. I was on a two week cruise and the cruise activities on board were the same in the second week. I've booked my next cruise with msc in october.

MSC Divina 7 night Caribbean by puffyjumbo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship was just ok. Embarkation was a breeze, no problems. Disembarkation was a mess. Don't pay for the transfer! just get a cab or Uber, it will probably cost about the same and it will be a lot faster. We had issues with our bags getting to our Cabins. If your's hasn't arrived when everyone else's has, look up and down the halls, one of our bags was all the way at the other end of the hall, and another one was on a different floor completely. Cabin was fine, about what you would expect for a cruise ship. There are 2 US electrical outlets over the desk and one in the bathroom. The one in the bathroom is in the ceiling and difficult to use. You do not need any converters or adapters. Just bring a power strip so you have more plugs. Put your do not disturb sign in the key slot on the wall inside your cabin to keep your ac on when you leave. Ship is a bit hard to navigate. Basically everything is on 6, 7, 8, 14, 15. If you want to get from one end to the other quickly, walk through on one of the cabin floors to avoid the traffic. When you first get on, head to the Casino to pick up your drink packages (fyi get a water package too), then head to the back of the ship, deck 15 to the garden bar, sit at a table and enjoy your first drink before the crowds get there. About the drinks, bar service is extremely slow all over the ship! I mean like really slow! They also have trouble getting your order right, be prepared. They only have 4 draft beers Heni, Heni light, Newcastle, and Cider. Buffet is crazy! try to go during off peak times, late at night the pump out fresh out pizza, really good. Activities on the ship are minimal, they will not keep you busy, bingo sucks, don't waste your money. Name that tune was fun, but short. Try the meter pizza, but don't do the beer flight, remember, only 4 beers on draft. Bowling was $8 per game and you only get 5 frames. Try it once. The water slide sucks, my friend was pushing himself half of the way down. Pools and decks get really crowded. If you want a chair get there early or really late afternoon. For people that like smoothies for breakfast, they have them up at the gym. They can't change the channels in the sports bar, so sit where you can see the program you want. Food there was good and it is free. Jamaica- Dunn's River Falls and bobsled were fun. Cayman- Private Stingray City, snorkeling, and starfish point were awesome! Our favorite. Mexico- don't do the tequila tasting, not worth it. Go on the sea and land tour, you get to do tequila tasting there too. Bahamas- I had already been there so we just went to the Melia hotel and spent the day on the beach. In port, people want you to tip them for every little thing, it got really annoying. Trying to get back on the ship after the day spent in port is a pain in the butt. You stand in line in the sun forever. Dinner at the main restaurant was ok. They really only serve one course at a time so if you order multiple apps. then everyone else has to wait for their main course. It still moved at good speed though as most of us all ordered more than one app. Dress code is not as fancy as we had imagined, however they did deny access to a man wearing shorts. For women, skirts, dress, pants are all fine. Men, slacks and a button down shirt are fine. Most of the staff are friendly and try to be helpful but a lot of them were confused when I asked them where to find a certain place on the ship. If they are confused, imagine how I felt. You have to pay a lot of extra things over the course of 7 days, just keep that in mind when booking. Overall, things were fine, we had fun! I probably wouldn't sail this cruise line again though. I prefer NCL. If anyone has any questions about the ship or excursion, please let me know, I would be happy to help.

Pros : very clean... by DebDoesCruises1

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Pros : very clean ship , nice mix of different nationalities, european flair, not a party ship, more relaxed atmosphere, drink prices very reasonable Cons: MSC is still working out some kinks, coupons for drinks and coffees a terrible process. Embarkation confusing and you are made to run all over to pick up your prepaid coupons (why not load them in your card or at least deliver to your room? ) room steward efficient but not friendly...no towel aninals ? Dining Room food is horrible, cold most of the time. Speciality steak house and italian restaurant have a horrible atmosphere- plastic chairs? to our surprise, the best speciality restaurant is up in the disco...food,view and staff awesome. another secret is the sports bar serves wings, burgers, salads (free)...and were really hot and good. Buffet food was the same each day and terrible selection. Shows were pretty good but again have a European flair...ports of call...cozumel has really cleaned up its act and was my favorite island...jamaica is a dump and cayman is by tender which is annoying. Casino is SMOKE FREE ! Bottom line..for the price, an ok relaxation place for 7 days but if you like more excitement and if you have kids, choose another cruise line....

Nice Cruise to Relax by jungkind

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

With 3 days at sea this cruise appeals more to Relax people.

The 3 ports are Nassau, San Juan de Puerto Rico and Philipsburg/Sint Maarten. I have been to all of them before, including living in Puerto Rico for some years.

For that reason we did not book any excursion, but knowing the places I found the scope of offers rather limited.

The cruise experience was excellent, cabin arrangement very well thought out, food excellent and shows top notch.

Overall excellent value for the money for those who do not need a port adventure each and every day.

I have heard both good... by Louandmel

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

I have heard both good and bad so I had to see the experience the cruise for myself. Well I had a great time. Only complaint was kids pool was too deep, I recommend a sallow end for children that may not be advanced. Our son really enjoyed himself at the kids Camp and that staff was AWESOME. Please please please serve the sweet potato fries more then one day.

Hey everyone. We had a... by sawyer68

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Hey everyone. We had a great cruise despite me being ill. Spent most of the first two days in the room with a high temperature. This being our third Divina cruise I will compare it to the others. Being sick doesn't affect my opinion as everyone in the group felt the same. Ship was beautiful and clean. Shows were great. Darren needs a few new jokes. Haha. Had to fight to get reservation changed for the third time. Documents said late dining but was assured by our Msc rep, I booked directly, that we had early dining. Checked in and told differently. This happened each cruise. Had to spend 90 minutes in a lineup to get it changed. Staff were great with the exception of our dining room. They are under staffed. We didn't have room on our table to eat. They didn't remove empty plates from first course or the wine glass and couldn't get a drink of water. Had to keep telling him. Water please with no luck. The buffet at night was awful. Very limited choice I though. However was great during the day and breakfast despite the crowds. The pool bars were busy and people were frustrated. I didn't find that too bad myself but others were vocal about it to the staff. Need a few more servers I think. Chairs are reserved very early. Room was cleaned well each day. Great to see that the sports pub food is now free. It wasn't in the past. Disappointed with the main pool during the sail away as the area where kids play didn't have water. This caused the inside and outside pool to be crowded. Staff said it will be filled tonight. Don't make sense. Last two times it was filled when we got there and kids had a ball. Rear pool was closed as well on sail away day. Wasn't last time. I think it opened later in the evening. Muster stations need to have air conditioning on bust prior to the life jacket drill. We were sweating and it was stuffy. Older people seemed very uncomfortable. Still think the speakers are way too high in volume during the games etc. Maybe I'm old.. The medical staff were great and I was given meds for about a 100 fee. All in all I give it a 3 out of five. The previous times I gave it a 5 and a 4. I can see how first timers will go either way. I will still recommend the ship as the value is great and the good far out weigh the bad. Looking forward to the seaside next April 14. Already booked.

Love the DIVINA!! The shows... by Tinalouise71

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Love the DIVINA!! The shows were soo amazing!! The bartenders went out of their way to make you that special drink, I truly applause the entertainement all around the ship...the Luna bar,the Golden bar were our specials spots. Now comes the not so good. The food was horrible....Im not a fussy eater believe me,but Ive been on 3 other different cruise line and unfortunetly this was at the bottom for food.Service was excellent but it is a europpean cruise line so maybe its a different menu. Also,if I wouldved done more research on spring break in april I probably would not have gone. There was 550 kids on board!!!! Love kids,I have 2 so its all good but I will probably go in late november to avoid soo many kids. But all in all loved the Divina for the best shows at sea and service was A1!!

Cruising on the Divina was... by mateodavid70

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Cruising on the Divina was a great experience. This was my first cruise and I loved the ship. It is beautiful and clean and in excellent condition. Food was pretty good for the most part, though slow when dining at the Black Crab. The staff were great, full of energy and fun. The shows were very entertaining, although somewhat the same each night. Cabin 9175 was plenty roomy for an interior cabin. Pools and hot tubs were nice, but go early if you are looking to get a chair. Weather was wonderful and enjoyed the time spent in ports.

great time by 2happypeople

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The duo in the luna lounge were the best. Greg and Sonia really know how to please a audience.

Did have a incident at the hot tub. 3 ladies got into a cat fight over whatever their kids were doing in the hot tub. Guess people never learn to let kids be kids.
