Review summary

We booked a cruise in June of 2017 and have had nothing but problems since we have booked.  I have at least 6 phone calls to their customer service over the same issues.  We were going to cancel, but upon calling to do so was promised all our issues would be taken care of and given a number to call the agent directly - well that is a joke, I have left messages and he never gets back to me, etc.  We are traveling with our children, 4 of us all together, and in two separate rooms.  When we booked we asked for early dining for both rooms - now months later, many phone calls later we are finally told that since we are in two separate categories (one inside cabin, one balcony) that there is no guarantee the one room can be seated for early dining and they are hoping that 3 days before the cruise when the eating arrangements are made that they will see we are traveling together and seat us together in early dining.  What a joke - and when I ask wouldn't you want to take care of this problem now whether than waiting until we are on board, but apparently they want us to wait until we are on board and see the MAMA BEAR in me come out.  Totally disappointed in MSC.  Another one of our problems has been that they switched a couple of us around in order to give us a discount and in that process they listed everyone as males.  When I called to have me and my stepdaughter changed to females the customer service representative argued with me that we put down that we were males when we booked the cruise and we would have to stay as males for the cruise - he absolutely refused to change this information.  I can only guess what would have happened with the heightened security if we were on the itinerary as males and showed up with passports stating we were females.  Again another issue that apparently they would like to address at the cruise ship and not beforehand.  Luckily in another phone call with them, I was able to get them to change this.  This has been a terrible experience and I never thought I was going to have to pack my Xanax to get through a vacation but I am thinking that is definitely going in the medication bag and I will be taking a Xanax the day we board the ship.  We can only guess with as much trouble as we have had beforehand with our reservation, what the experience is going to be on board the ship.  I am sure they are not going to be happy in the dining room when I insist that my children sit with me for dinner - I don't think that is too much to ask for.  MSC really needs to work on their customer service, their website (that's another horrible story and save yourself the aggravation and do not try to book through the website - but of course that means you have to get on to where you need to do that which is impossible to do without a phone call to the cruise line so they can tell you how (and the SO is an IT guy and he couldn't figure it out).   I am so fed up with MSC that I am really not looking forward to going on their ship and in fact, I am beginning to rethink taking formal clothes given the chance that we are not going to be able to eat together as a family, so why go through the process of taking all that extra clothing when we will probably just be eating in the buffet the whole week anyways.  Sorry MSC - you are already very disappointing!!!!!

Hey, the maitre D will get that fixed. You have to go see him in the villa rosa around 4 in boarding day. Be prepared to wait for an hour as this is a problem. Many people go to get reservations, seating times changed. Had to three years in a row as my documents did not match my request. Customer service with MSC is hit or miss and it should not be. It's giving them a bad rep when the ship is beautiful and overall a great experience. But if you start off the cruise with a bad expectations it will get compounded.

katburgess it will all work out. take some deep breaths and just let vacation happen. the dining room staff will get the 4 of you sat together, mark my words. you are right, phone customer service has been rough the two times we've sailed on the Divina but the ship itself and ship staff more than make up for it. just glide over these few speed bumps and have a great time on the open seas.

I couldn't book anything or order pkgs thru my iPad, MSC told me that , I used an old Skool tower computer and it went through

Cruised Divina , we used an online agent , I called MSC a few times sometimes it was fine other times not do much the agent was able to put me on hold and get things straightened out I was booking 4 balcony cabins, one thing balconies have 3/4 classes our agent got us upgraded to Fantistica class , Bella is the base, same room but with Fantistica you get a choice of early or late dinner, plus free room service, Katnburgess see if you have Bella or Better

Got off 3 weeks ago and had NO problems. With a group of 7 and we sat together every night at the same table with the same staff. They are very helpful once you get aboard I would imagine all will be worked out. Booking thru a travel agency is much easier, they handled these kind of problems. Beautiful ship and lots of fun, so enjoy and quit worrying about everything. Your children will eat with you. Try the pizza, best ever!!

The maitre d in the dining room would be able to fix this problem once you are on board. I would not let a couple of retards prior to boarding ruin your trip.

be careful if you enter a cruise expecting to have a bad time you probably will.
