Review summary

We were a little afraid by reading so many different reviews. Some are very negativ. But we were very surprised. MSC did a really good job in our opinion. We would not hesitate a second to book another cruise with them. Unfortunately I have to say that we met some of the rudest passengers in our cruise history. Some people don’t seem to know how to behave. Queueing seems to some people either strange or they just don’t care about others. But that didn’t ruin our experience.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a little confusing. Had to wait long until safety check opened. Then again waiting for a check in agent. The lady who checked us in forgot to give us a group number to finally get on the ship. So that was confusing but we got a number from a guy at the waiting area. They boarded the ship in groups but at the first announcement everyone got up to queue. So that was like chaos. The announcements were hardly understood. But we finally made it on the ship. It took only 3 hours and we were among the first 30 people that morning that arrived at the terminal... so take your time - it doesn’t make sense to be there early. We heard from other people who arrived at 2 or 3 pm and they just needed 20 minutes to get onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was just great. At the buffet area little crowded which made this a little stressy to get your food and a seat. I would suggest to get a seat first and then grab some food. Otherwise your food will be cold until you find a seat. The buffet in the center area of the restaurant is just overcrowded every time we went there. But the area at the ships aft is much less crowded. We enjoyed our meals in this area. Always got a nice seat with a stunning view. The food in the main dining room was very good. But we chose very often the steak from the alternativ menu. That was just amazing. Perfectly grilled. Portion size very good. Unfortunately the portion sizes of the regular menu were just to small. American food at the buffet was good. Cheeseburger was good. Mediterranean burger I didn’t like that much. Loved that pizza!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The water slide was fun. Although it is located not at the main pool deck, it was a must to check out. Almost no queue. Sometimes I was the only one.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We were absolutely amazed by the service on that ship. Everyone was smiling and asking if they could help. Our room steward did a very good job. Asked for more pool towels because you officially get only 1 per person. At the towel station you only can change the towels but they refuse to give you more towels that you bring. Only exchange. That seemed strange to us. So we asked our cabin steward and he gave us more.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout is sometimes a little confusing. Sometimes you have to change decks to get to a certain point. But once you learned about that it’s not a big deal. The ship itself is gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful and spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin size is very good. Excellent layout. Bathroom very spacious. The shower doors are very smartly designed to enlarge the rest of the room. Loved the balcony. The cabin was located near the ships aft. There are stairs to go up. So we just walked 2 decks to 14 and got to the rear entrance of the buffet restaurant. That was easy because as I mentioned that area of the restaurant was the least crowded.

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

Went to Dickinson bay. Just an amazing beach. Very nice and easy to get there. Just 10 minutes by cab.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Went just to town. Had not much time to explore the island because of the bad weather that day. But we enjoyed the time we had.

San Juan, Puerto Rico Did not visit port

Was replaced by St. Thomas

Tortola, British Virgin Islands Did not visit port

Was replaced by Guadeloupe

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
The ships in Bay Street are nice but I have to say that the people of Nassau are not the nicest I met on this cruise. The only talk about tipping and tipping and more tipping. Cab driver refused to go to cable beach. Said he would only go with a really huge tip from everyone of us. Tipping is normal but that was really to much talk about that.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quick and easy.

Loved it! A bit chaotic at the buffet but go to the back of the buffet, always empty and there's a great view!

People complain about Carnival too but I’ve never had a problem and always have a great time. People prefer different things. It’s what you make of it too. And totally agree with you on the rude guests. Seriously pushing through to get there first. Knocking over elders. I don’t know why people can’t get off in order on tenders or tour buses or follow the rules?! If we all did that, everything wouldn’t take so long. I wish people would just let the people off in front of them first instead of trying to run in front of them. Sigh.

Very happy to hear you had a good time. We really enjoyed it too. If you want to take it to the next level then try the Yacht Club next time. It's worth every penny
