Great cruise for the money. We had a blast with the party staff. We were not pampered, as on some cruises, but that is not as important to us as having fun, and getting a bargain.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Went smoothly. Used Premier Parking, with no incident.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was not as good as Celebrity or RC, but was better than Carnival and Norwegian. It was good, but not excellent.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
This ship has an international flare, with an especially European flavor. The poolside dance lessons were fun. The parties were well done. The staff that handles these things were great!
Entertainment
4 out of 5
They use recorded music in the main shows. I think this must save them money that they put toward better singers and dancers. The shows were good. One was great. They were not as cheesy as most cruise shows. They did not have a live calypso band poolside either. And there were no comedy shows.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
We didn't have kids, but we saw their group all over. They had the kids performing shows and dances. They seemed to be having a great time.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The staff was not near as personable as on Celebrity and RC. They didn't use our names, or interact with us, or even smile much. They did their just ok, though the room could have been cleaned better, and dinner service could have been faster and friendlier. It seems this ship ran in a more European way. We still very much enjoyed our cruise, but the service level could have been higher. However, for the price paid for this cruise, we were happy overall.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The only reason we did not give 5 stars is that with this being a newer ship, we'd have liked/expected a shopping "mall". It had a shuffleboard court, but no equipment to play. We had to walk through a smokey casino to get to/from dinner and shows. It had one water slide, but you needed to wear a small swim suit and oil yourself up, or you wouldn't slide through it.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We got a free upgrade to a balcony, so we are very happy. It was roomy and this cabin was on the end, so it had a huge balcony. Some had a bath tub, but this one did not. Some had closets that opened into the room, but these opened into the entry hall, and into the bathroom door, so we had to knock coming out of the bathroom to make sure we didn't clobber someone at the closet. Our friends were above a disco, so they hear booming musing until 1am every night.
Ship tip
Bring walkie talkies, a night light, water bottle for excursions. Leave your pocket knife at home ... they held mine during the cruise.
Unless you want to pay to go to Atlantis, there's not much to do besides shopping. There is a small public beach near the pier, which is now much improved over past years.
I've been in Divina twice and honestly don't remember going through the casino to go to dinner/show. Bc I don't like smoke and I would be the first one to complain!! Staff were wonderful and Delicious food. loved it. I always say with MSC is a hit or miss thing. But At least you had a Free! Upgrade with a huge balcony! That's nice!!
