MSC Armonia

7 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: December 16, 2019

Ship: MSC Armonia

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

We enjoyed our time on the Armonia. The service from the crew was very good. The ship offers a nice variety of activities. There is not a lot of pressure to buy or upgrade like I have encountered on other ships. (Except we were approached too many times about the drink package upon arrival.)

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It went very smoothly. Lines at our arrival time were not too long. It moved quickly and smoothly.

The stage shows were fun. They were not the best I have seen on ships, but they were full of fun energy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were well pleased by the cleanliness of the cabin, and the professionalism and polite consideration of our cabin steward. Very attentive without being intrusive.

Ship tip

Check your itinerary daily. Take advantage of some of the many offerings. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t be afraid to ask for something. They are very accommodating.

Ports of call

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

Beautiful, small private island. It is still being developed, but is lovely so far. No pressure from local vendors to deal with. The lunch buffet provided by the ship was very nice. It was a long line, but moved efficiently. They are adding a second buffet as the construction continues. That will be helpful for the wait.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

4 out of 5
An NCL ship arrived before us. Therefore we were assigned to another dock. We were given a map to navigate the original dock. We were confused by the switch. No information was given on this. We spent money on a taxi ride that ended up being totally unneeded. It created confusion for us and others.

Miami, Florida

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Several ships were in this day. The port was very nice, but a little crowded with all the passengers there at once.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quickest process that I have experienced yet on a cruise.

What ages are your children? We're booked for a 7 night in March. My son will be 18 by then and unable to participate in the teen club. (He's a senior in high school.) Hoping there are lots of activities going on!

Glad you enjoyed it. I have seen many negative reviews on this ship and MSC. It seems many don’t understand the different levels of experience you can book on MSC. It appears those that are unhappy book the cheapest entry level and apparently expected top-level services. Those that did their research and understood what they were getting had a good experience.
