Cuba was very nice, but try to take another cruise line. This ship is small and feels crowded.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
No issues, but you don't register a credit card at check and must do it later in the cruise.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Dining room food was very good, but small portions, although you can ask for more. I actually prefer this, as it cuts down on waste. Buffet food was terrible, to the point we would skip a meal if we didn't go to the dining room. Drink package only included Miller light and drinks of $6 or less, unless you upgraded. Internet package was 2 GB for 2 people for the week, so we had to buy extras. Lots of added charges.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Pools were small and crowded. Two sizes of pool were over 6' and less than 1'. One day I couldn't find a single chair on the entire pool deck to use. Trivia and other games were very enjoyable, but more variety is needed. No comedy act on board.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The stage shows, in general, didn't play music I liked and were pretty repetitive. A lot of modern dance. The lead male singer had a very strong accent and this deterred from the enjoyment of the songs. I went to 70's night and they played 3 songs from that decade and then slipped into modern music.
Children's Programs
No kids in my group.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The ship's staff were remarkable. They made up for most of the issues MSC had. Our head waiter knew our drinks and would bring sample dishes for us to try. The trivia guy, Claudio, was fun, engaging and great.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
We couldn't get to our room from the back of the ship without going to another deck first. Linens were stored in the hallway. The bathroom was so small I quit using the shower curtain, as it would stick to my back. Permanent stains were visible in many areas. Elevators were slow and crowded.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Small, but we weren't in it too much. We chose an inside cabin, as we spend most of our time in other areas.
This was the whole point of choosing this cruise. Cuba was fun, charming and lots to do. You do NOT need to purchase a ship excursion to enter Cuba. Lots of choices once you're in port.
