Review summary

We had a lot of fun on this cruise and made a lot of good memories. With my daughters being 18 and 20, we don't know how much longer we will be taking family vacations and cherished this time. If you go to Tortola I recommend visiting the Baths. You will need a guide to get you through the cave part. At St. Kitts my family climbed the volcano and loved it. Make sure you wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. It rained on three times in the rain forest portion. I would definitely go on this ship again.

Embarkation

Embarkation was very smooth and easy. Parking was nearby. Just showed them our documents and went straight onto ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We did not eat at any specialty restaurants. The buffet was very good with lots of variety and helpful staff. The main dining room had excellent servers. We were on My Time Dining yet sat at the same table every night. I'm kind of a picky eater, but there were always several options and all very good. Timing was the best. On our last cruise, different cruise line, dinner was at least two hours. We probably spent half of that time just waiting between courses. We got to where we didn't even want to go to dinner because it took up so much time. This time dinner was over in an 60-75 minutes.

Café Promenade

5 out of 5

This was so nice just to get a snack, or even a meal if you want. There is lots of seating right along the Promenade. Great for people watching.

Windjammer Café

So many things to choose from. You can have a different meal every time, or eat your favorites every time.

Main Dining Room

5 out of 5

Excellent service, loved our table by the window, lots of choices to please most everyone. You can never please everyone. Servers were very attentive.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My 18 and 20 year old daughters enjoyed the water slides and laying out on the pool deck. They went to stretching and abs classes in the mornings. They are into fitness and really enjoyed the classes. My husband and I can't be in the sun a lot so we spent a lot of our time going to trivia, listening to bands, going to game shows, shopping, and people watching on the Promenade. The last cruise we took on a different cruise line didn't have many activities and was a little boring. Although, during those times I like to sit on my balcony and read.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We looked forward to the shows every night. They had variety shows with jugglers, comediennes, singers, dancers, etc. Entertainment was not very good on our last cruise with a different cruise line. The one that stands out the most was the comedienne who no one laughed at. The comedienne on the Mariner had the entire audience rolling.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service personnel were always very friendly. They always spoke to us and called us by name if they saw us around the ship. They made sure we had everything in a timely manner and happily filled any special requests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Yes, everything was clean and well maintained. We were on this ship in 2006 for our first cruise. It has been updated since then.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Bed was very comfortable. I slept better than I do at home. Our cabin steward made sure it was always clean. It was adequate size for a cruise cabin. The balcony was larger than most. The view on the back of the Mariner is partly obstructed. It's not bad. You can still see the everything, just not directly below you.

Disembarkation

We chose to walk off with our luggage just so we could get out quicker. Getting through customs was quick and easy. It would have been even easier with a passport but we had birth certificates.
