Review summary

We had such a nice, memorable cruise. During our sailing there was a hurricane. The communication from the captain was fabulous. He kept us out of harms way and adjusted our port schedule so we would get the best weather for our port days. This worked out perfect. And we got two extra days at sea because Port Canaveral closed and we could not return until it re-opened. We were very pleased and booked another Royal Cruise on the sister ship to the Mariner next year. Can’t wait!

Fabulous experience. Showed up during our designated time and walked through the process with little to no wait.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Loved the selection of food in the Windjammer. The washy washy attendant reminding us all to wash our hands upon entry was great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I really liked the lido deck fitness and the pool aerobics. Please continue to offer this!!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The trivia hosted in the Schooner Bar was always crowded. Maybe offer repeats to give people more options.

Children's Programs

They messed up my grandson’s reservation so we had to change plans but the care was good.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
There was some deferred maintenance visible in the restroom areas. For the age of the ship it was understandable but I wish the facilities were in better shape.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was an interior with promenade window. The window ended up not being worth it and the space between the bed and the TV nook was so narrow. It was difficult to get through that area to get to the bathroom at night (particularly in the dark).

Ship tip

Absolutely book a beach bed on chill island at coco cay and do it early. We are taking a different ship to coco cay in a few months and we could not get one. They were sold out. And if you do get one, get there early to select a beachside bed. The reservation system seemed to assign a bed to us with the reservation but when we arrived we were escorted to the last bed available. The number on the bed did not match the reservation. Seemed to be “first come, first served”.

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

Great beach. Bring your own blow up float if you don’t book an excursion. You can float in the water all day. The water is nice and calm.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Chill Island at Coco Cay was lovely. The pool was a lot of fun too.

Disembarkation

Smooth, super easy. We had a flight to catch so we were up early and in line (with our own bags). It was a huge time saver to do this and I believe, a contributing factor to our excellent experience.
