Review summary

Overall this cruise was amazing! I loved The itinerary. I was impressed with the ship but most importantly I was impressed with the cruise line who had a very difficult situation in such an incredible way!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We left on Saturday to September 24 expecting to return on Thursday, September 29 however thanks to hurricane and we did not return until Saturday, October 1. That meant two extra days on the ship. Port Canaveral did a good job of embarkation however there were two things that felt confusing. Upon arriving via shuttle at the poor it was a little confusing as to where we needed to go. Then once we got onto the ship I found that we did not board the mariner like I had boarded the other ships in the fleet and it was just a little bit confusing as to where to go. I felt that they could’ve done a better job of directing us.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I dined at all of the specialty restaurants and having dine in chops many times before I found it to be the same as the other ships in the fleet. It was very very good. However Jamie‘s Italian was literally exceptional and I will not sail on a real Caribbean ship that has that restaurant and not eat there! I also thought that Izumi was wonderful. I actually was pretty impressed with the wind jammer and dying there at different times of the day. Anyone who cannot find something to eat at that buffet has a problem. Now the main dining room leaves a bit to be desired. The service was wonderful as always but I feel that the food just sometimes fall short of the mark.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
One of the things I especially loved was the waterslides.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Ice show was incredible! I also found the main stage shows and comedians to be great. I was especially impressed that they created a guest talent show because they had to come up with entertainment for the two extra days. I found the musicians to also be outstanding! As a musician myself I can sometimes be hard to please and Royal caribbean did an outstanding job!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always the Royal caribbean staff was top-notch! I was extremely impressed with our room steward and I must make mention of Captain Tobias who navigated through a very hard situation with a hurricane and I never felt uneasy. I always felt safe and the cruise Director Mark made sure that we had a great time despite what was going on with the weather!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I think they do a good job with sanitizing the ship and I never felt that there was any time that I was going to get sick or be unhealthy. I do think that the ship needs to be updated. They are constantly cleaning all of the common areas and that is impressive!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
My cabin was always clean as I said my room steward was amazing! Once again the cabin could be updated.

Ship tip

Be sure to head up to Ellington’s lounge for a drink! The view is unsurpassed!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Once again I have to hand it to a group of people who did not anticipate the situation. Poor Canaveral did a phenomenal job of disembarkation after dealing with 10 ships that were arriving late after having to stay extra days at sea!
