Review summary

The ship Mariner of the Seas although smaller was refurbished and really nice. This is our 7th cruise and would prefer Royal from now on. The staff were very nice and never felt like we had bad service. Food is as would expect, good but not out of this world. Took 5 families and with such a big group we all had fun with lots to do. Ports were pretty good, Nassau as many share often, crowded and not much to look at but shop. We choose to take us all by cab to Cable Beach and it was pristine and beautiful. Definitely a quiet and easy public beach to go too. Cocoa Cay was definitely Perfect!! RC did amazing to get so much for all to do, just wish we had more time. Felt like we needed two days for sure. So much fun and a highlight of the cruise. Overall would do this ship and Cocoa Cay again for sure. Thanks RC!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Ben was our waiter in main dining and was wonderful. Friendly and great with kids. Food was good but wouldn’t have anything special to say about it.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of fun for all. Lines really long but that’s to be expected on a full capacity ship. Kids had fun mostly with water slides and basketball courts. Little ones really only had putt-putt and arcade so got bored faster but loved hot tubs and ice cream.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertaining but not as good as Oasis class ships. Ice skating show good! RC shows are the best we’ve seen.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Bartenders were very friendly and all servers and waiters were fantastic!! Very accommodating with all our needs.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
For an older ship but refurbished ship it was very nice, clean and fun

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Overall was nice room. Beds were comfy. Only negative was the smells. Our water smelled with sulfur

Ship tip

Do waterslides, flow rider, and sky ball early when opens to avoid lines. Get drink package! Can use on private island too.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Take a cab to Cable Beach. Public but quiet and pristine. Got coconut drinks from locals and able to snorkel and see star fish!

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Did NASA on own, not through ship, but always wanted to go. Kids really didn’t like unless they are really into space program.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Nothing to say other than it IS the PERFECT day!!! Really need two days.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Best to just take luggage with you off ship. Easiest disembark ever had. No security lines.

Would not call it smaller but rather just about right size.
