This was our family’s first cruise. I don’t think cruising will be our thing, but we did really enjoy our time on the ship & at Coco Cay. It was a different kind of adventure for my family, that’s for sure, and good for us to “break out of the box” for a vacation. This is an excellent itinerary for anyone curious about a cruise to take & decide if they like it. I would highly recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone interested in a cruise. Their customer service was extremely well done in all areas.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The port was well organized & the staff nicely provided directions to all from security through boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate at a variety of complimentary locations on the ship & enjoyed all of them. The variety & quality of items was good & the staff were very gracious.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My 10yo son got to enjoy all of the childrens’ activities & amenities except the Sky Pad which was broken for the duration of our cruise. That was perfectly fine though as he was busy all day every day between ice skating, laser tag, water slides, trivia, sports court, etc. You would have to be actively trying to not find an enjoyable activity on the ship.
My husband & I both enjoyed the gym & the Solarium. The pool and hot tub side drinks service was a nice extra.
Entertainment
We didn’t attend any of the shows.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My 10 yo son said he had a lot of fun playing games & doing activities in the kids club. He greatly enjoyed being able to sign himself in & out during our sea day (not available when the ship is in pier for security reasons).
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our steward Michelle was so thoughtful & accommodating for our few requests. He was always working so hard.
Our waiters in the main dining room were attentive & thorough. We thought it was a nice touch that they remembered our names throughout service.
All ship personnel were friendly and attentive to guests.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I have to say, some of our fellow cruisers were total slobs! They would leave behind the biggest messes but they were gone almost instantly. It was very obvious the crew worked hard & diligently at keeping the ship clean and inviting for all. As a working mom, I appreciate what it takes to clean up after others constantly & their hard work did not go unnoticed by me!!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Good size for our 3 people, lots of storage (way more than we needed for our 4 night sailing level of stuff). I very much appreciated the balcony when I wanted to enjoy views but needed a break from all the activity on the ship. Our room was always clean & comfortable.
Ship tip
Please don’t attend meals in your swimwear, or, invest in a cover up that actually covers up if you do!
Honestly I thought all the poor reviews of Nassau were created by overly picky or high maintenance people. They weren’t. We walked from port to the Queen’s Staircase which was interesting but the only good thing about our port experience. Everything else was dirty, rundown & more than a bit sad.
Absolutely loved it. We split our time between South Beach & the Oasis Pool. Construction didn’t bother us a bit. The walk out was fun & we saw a lot of wildlife - many types of fish, a few stingrays, several conch & a small nurse shark.
Lunch was delicious & we wished we had a few more hours on the island - had to be back on ship by 4:30.
We carried our own luggage & had an excellent experience. Very easy to get off the ship & proceed through customs. We appreciated all of the staff providing directions for us.
