A Miss for Carnival by jenljbear

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mardi Gras

Embarkation was a nightmare. Food was hit and miss, the ports all nice and open. Masks were worn by about 95% of the passengers while out and about. The balcony rooms offered little privacy. You could look into other people's balconies just by looking down because they were tiered.

A Different Kind of Cruise . . . But not in a bad way by jovigrl73

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras

Sailing on a new ship at reduced capacity due to COVID was odd, but even with the protocols, the staff of this ship made the cruise. Everyone we met was so happy to be back and the service was better than any cruise I’ve been on.

Worth Sailing Once by barbnyy

The price was right to sail on this brand new ship. As with most cruises there were pros and cons but we still had a great time!

Overall a great cruise by b52gunner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mardi Gras

Finally on the Mardi Gras after months of unavoidable delays. Great job on the new ship except for the spa, WHY did you relocate it to a windowless enclosure (thermal suites) and add in this type of pool with them?

Much needed vacation by DeejayAtom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I and our 15 yr old had a good time on the ship. Boarding took maybe 30min and a good new thing is the life jacket presentation was private and took 5min. Bathroom and doors operate by wave of hand button, and hand sanitizers stations are everywhere. Rollercoaster Bolt is $15.00 fee, Fahrenheit Steakhouse is $35.00 a person and it was worth it. Shaq chicken was phenomenal. Flamingo Restaurant employees Anak and Lilly were awesome took very good care of us! Backyard Band performed in the barbecue pit and they should be in the main theatre! They did a Stevie Wonder tribute and nailed it. They were so good they did music by request and if they didn't know it they searched it got the lyrics and performed it, like The Isley Brothers I requested! General Electric Violin performed good shows as we sat and sipped on cocktails. Punchliner comedians Jim Burke and Azeem both were above average and they were hilarious! MC Andy was good, but we didn't like any of the DJ's. All the cruise DJ's music were very repetitive and lots of talking on the microphone. Plenty of pool chairs and pool beds were available. To book food reservations, all you do is use the app on your phone and it will tell you when your table is ready to avoid lines and crowds. When not outside masks were required but all guests didn't adhere to this rule. Can't leave out our room attendant AHMAD! Ahmad was awesome! Anything We needed he provided, and if he didn't know the answer he would search and find out and got back to us with the information. AHMAD went above and beyond and we appreciate his professionalism and attention to detail he provided on our cruise! You have to attend adult Family Feud gameshow! The Dating Game show was last sail day and 2pm time, and Carnival should consider changing this schedule. Buffet was average, tacos and Guy's burger were good, Guy's pig & anchor was ok. The pizza was ok and like ice cream its 24hours. Room service was above average and for $5.00 you could order barbecue wings or chicken strips. I ordered room service on the last day at 1:00am and they were still open. Overall it was a good time but no vacation is perfect. Considering this is a brand new ship the entire staff overall was friendly, and the guests as well. Didn't do any excursions and stayed on the ship the entire cruise.

Carnival Mardi Gras by LCTravel15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mardi Gras

Just got off the Mardi Gras. Honestly, didn't think I would like such a big ship. WRONG! The ship is huge, but very easy to get around. 19 decks, but 3-5 & 9-15 are just staterooms. So the "public areas" are super simple to navigate. As usual, the crew was fantastic. CD Chris Williams, The Flying Scotsman, is amazing. The food and drink options are plentiful, not to mention quite tasty. Especially loved the French Quarter. Emeril's Bistro is a pay option, but prices are very reasonable, and the food is incredible. Relax and listen to great music at The Brass Magnolia. I am ready to book this so again, and probably will very soon. Laissez le bon temps rouler!!!

Never again Carnival… by tapout87

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mardi Gras

I am #LoyalToRoyal. I wanted to try something different and this cruise just confirmed that Royal is the only way to sail. They have basically copied things from other cruise lines and threw it together. Horrible experience.
