Review summary

Unfortunately, we took this cruise with low expectations that were not met.  Our room steward, dining and wait staff servers, and spa reps were all very good.  However, the cruise generally had poor organization of activities and food quality.  The ship is very worn and dining space in the buffet was always difficult to find.  Therefore, I can't review the overall experience any higher.

Entertainment

It was very odd when the best entertainment on the cruise, a comedian that was hyped to perform the whole week, was cancelled due to a curtain malfunction (vs being relocated to the open venues on the ship). Very disappointing

baronmom3 you had the same problem we did, having to change ship.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that didn't enjoy it.

8th cruise on royal and this was my least enjoyable one. The room steward and servers saved it.

Empress is old and even smaller than the majesty

Well if kim640 was like us, we had to switch ships because the Empress was still in dry dock and we had to change ships with a 2 week notice.

Majesty is old and an 'entry level' ship. Spend a few more bucks and book a newer and bigger ship.

There was not enough dining space in the buffet area and the food was cold and spicy most of the time.

The Majesty is one of RCs oldest ships still sailing! Try one of the larger ones with a Promenade, it is a totally different experience!

So you had excellent service but the ship was old? Sounds like you didn't go in with "low expectations". Those would include acknowledging the age of the ship.
