Review summary

We read "horror" stories about this ship, but the timing was perfect for us [my husband's birthday was this week] and the price was even better... so we decided to give it a try. In EVERY aspect, the ship FAR exceeded our expectations. We had sailed the Majesty previously, and after its complete make over, we would never have recognized her! The newness is prevalent throughout the ship in almost every area, except the cabin size! The new Windjammer Buffet is really not a buffet, but it is more like Marketplace with different types of food offered at various serving stations. It is now located in the middle of the restaurant making seating more available! We enjoyed the restaurant for both breakfast and lunch, never experiencing long lines. Perhaps, this "new" feeling has rubbed off on its staff, because they all seemed cheerful and willing to help. Since the ship was much smaller than the ones we actually prefer, we found no problem navigating our way throughout the ship. The cruise director and his staff were everywhere, with smiles and eager to assist every passenger making certain the trip was enjoyed. Even the Captain seemed to enjoy meeting passengers and had a sense of humor. Obviously, the reviews that we read prior to sailing are the "opinion" of the writer, as is this one, but our impression of the Majesty was quite positive. Although a larger ship seems to offer a bit more in the way of entertainment options throughout the night, we enjoyed our 4 night get away and would absolutely return again, hopefully sooner than later!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was excellent, although I still yearned for my lobster and crab legs! We did have, however, prime rib, steak, shrimp, calamari, smoked salmon, and so much more... not complaining really. The food was cooked precisely as order and was served hot. Our dinning room attendant, Dudley, saw to our every need, so there is no complaint at that end. On the flip side, we would have enjoyed the dinning room being opened on days that we were in port, so when we returned to the ship at lunch time, we would have been able to have a nice sit down lunch, rather than having to go to Windjammer [not that the food there was bad, but we would have preferred to be served in a relaxing environment!]

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows, including the 2 comedians and 2 production numbers, were fabulous, really wonderful. Our only complaint would be that we missed the 2nd show that we have become accustomed too. It would have been nice if they used the comedian again during the week in one of the lounges. We felt the piano bar singer was almost useless, never smiling and never initiating a sing a long!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Definitely the BEST ship staff on any ship. The cruise director, Jimmy, was the nicest individual we have ever met, and he was knowledgeable, willing to help, and so much fun. Jimmy never missed a beat and as a result, his staff was well trained, going way beyond the call of duty. We have become friends with many cruise directors, but Jimmy is several notches above the rest. He [along with his staff and activities] definitely made our trip!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was smaller than the ones we have come to favor, but as a result, we had no problem making our way from activity to activity. It's hard to say if we still actually favor the larger ships, as each seems to stand on its own!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Very, very, very small... had our beds pushed together in a queen configuration, and I literally had to climb over my husband to go to the bathroom during the night, which immediately woke him up also!

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Went shopping... no biggie. Straw market and stores exactly the same as we remembered it to be!

Key West, Florida

3 out of 5
Again, we just walked around, but it was hot and muggy... plus we've been there, done that!

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the peace and quiet of Cococay... liked the island more than we remembered from previous Royal Caribbean cruises!
Don't Miss: Great barbeque and caribbean music

Pros: Cruise Director, Entertainment, Dinning, BINGO, Atmosphere & RC Staff

Cons: Small [Very Small] Stateroom, Stateroom Attendant, Inabilitiy to attend certain activities due to timing
