Review summary

So I have to say that my 1st Princess cruise was a mixed bag. They put out an excellent product. The cruise itself was everything I would hope for. Unfortunately, my mother's accident on day 2 put a big cloud on the remainder of the trip. The passengers, crew and staff could not have been more kind and helpful. However, i was rather taken aback at the hour long review and re-creation of the incident-not to mention the paperwork and the bill that came immediately after. Still surprised we heard from no one about any compensation of any kind and the hoops I had to go through to get a refund on 1 of mom's excursions. No one offered her as much as a free drink or chocolate strawberry. Not even a sympathy note. Bottom line and warning-watch out for the heavy, fast-closing doors on deck, and don't get your shoe caught underneath.

Embarkation

Very smooth. Lots of help through the entire process. We were on board by 11:30am.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All dining areas were sparkling clean and beautiful. Staff was hard-working and friendly. Service some nights were excellent and others took a while to get through the courses. The food was in small portions, but mostly delicious and presented well. My 2 comments would be 1) I would like to see more recognizable menu items. Now that's likely because I don't normally have upscale dining so many nights in a row and it takes getting use to. 2) The one night we tried the buffet it was a bit disappointing. With ship @ half capacity, many areas were not even open and not nearly the selection I've seen. The food we did have was just okay. Overall, I did not go hungry and it was pleasant.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
A couple of game shows, a couple of production shows, music events, and sail away party. All cruise staff was fun and engaging. Entertainment was all very good.

Service and Staff

Jerry our Room Steward deserves an award. My mother was injured during the trip, and he went out of his way to make sure she was comfortable and had what she needed. Medical staff was also top notch.

Sorry to hear about your mother's accident. I hope she is feeling better. Reports are certainly a fact of life. I have heard before that cruise lines aren't sympathetic when you get hurt unfortunately.
