Great sized ship by New2cruzng

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved our time in Galveston before the cruise. Great little town full of history. Thoroughly loved the staff on the cruise. Edison and Joe, our waiter and asst. waiter, always went out of their way to see that we were taken care of. They gave the best recommendations, and made sure we ate well, and ate plenty! They were like family by the end of the cruise. Our housekeeper, Obie, was also awesome. Always available with a smile, and kept our room looking fresh and inviting! Our excursion, the Best of Roatan, was the biggest disappointment of the trip. Please avoid this option. Belize and Altun Ha was AMAZING. Our tour A Tale of Two Cities, and our guide, Pedro(who could be a twin of Eric Estrada or Wayne Newton), made the history and culture of Belize come to life! This country is a gem in the middle of Central America. We didn't travel away from the port of Cozumel, and therefore, just experienced a lot of shopping. What no one told us about the inside stateroom was how great we would sleep because it was so dark!  The bed and pillows were fantastic!

Disappointing boarding process by lindadowdy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We've been on 14 cruises and have never experienced a boarding or disembarking process as poorly managed as this one. We've sailed on Princess, Celebrity, Carnival and NCL, but this was our first cruise on Royal Caribbean. We waited outside the terminal in a line for an hour and a half before going through security and on through the check-in process. On return, the port was closed due to weather. I don't fault the cruise line for that, but there was no process once the ship did dock. It was every man for himself with no direction from the ship staff.  A very poor introduction to cruising on Royal Caribbean.

However, the ship was nice, the bathroom had a real shower door (not a shower curtain), the food was good and the entertainment was great, especially the ice skating show and Saturday Night Live musical. And, of course, the activities, at no additional charge, were fantastic- climbing wall, ice skating, flowrider, water slides.

Some notes- booking your next cruise on board is not worth your time. Yes, you can cancel, but the rates quoted are far higher than those you can find yourself online. The Chop House specialty restaurant is not that special or worth the additional cost.

Ports- Falmouth, Jamaica was built by Royal Caribbean. It is a nice new gated area, but the shops are the same as those found in Cayman or Mexico. Any natural sights are far from the port and we were warned not to go beyond the gated area without an escort or guide.

Cayman- Tenders are scheduled, which takes quite awhile to leave the ship, unless you have an excursion paid for. For $20 you can get snorkel equipment and swim right from the beach, a three minute walk from the dock.

Onboard shopping is much the same as most cruises- watches, jewelry, cruise apparel, etc. No need for a dinner reservation. We never waited for a table with anytime dining.  Food was good. Shopping promenade (mall) was impressive. There are rooms that look over the mall, but I wouldn't recommend them as everyone can look in if you leave curtains open.

Beware the Royal Caribbean survey request. You are not given an opportunity to provide open-ended comments at the end, so if you have anything to say, other than number rankings, do it early in the survey.

problems/ shampoo dispenser did not work, hot water in face bowel could not get cold, had issue with 1 of bar tender,, on board credit was not there upon arrival, This cruise was almost perfect good tasting food and drinks. Great service! A lot of things for big kids like me to to do. Good and diverse shows everynight.. Cruise director was good and informative. Even our departure went good. I hated to get off.  This was almost a perfect cruise and I would highly recommend.

Western Caribbean by waboyle3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As a Diamond member, I enjoyed one of the better lounges and perhaps the best Consierge that I have met.  After I told him that my suitcase never arrived at the airport, he did a daily follow-up on when and wherein would arrive and saw to it that someone would retrieve it at the local airport.  I hadn't asked him to do this.

I ate at the My-Time restaurant which was large enough for prompt seating no matter what time you arrived. The food and the shows were on par with all Royal Caribbean cruises.

First Cruise = Success!! by Cruiser47621644

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Two sisters (50-ish) and Mom (late 70s) on our first cruise.  Had a blast.  Did as little as we wanted on some days, as much as we could handle on other days.

The ship is very nice.  Plenty of various activities.  Plenty of food choices.

Every member of staff that we had contact with was beyond friendly and helpful.

Looking forward to our next cruise.

enjoyed the hot tub that hung over the water and the pool was nice as well. The food was just ok. Went to a specialty restaurant and had had broken glass on my table cloth and the waiter was not concerned.

Incredible Spring Break for Families! by ErinWI

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

7 days of fun, food and sun!   Cruise has something to do for everyone, at any given time of the day.   You can relax if you want to.....or you can take advantage of the many of the activities on board.   Crew is helpful, friendly, educated, and willing to do pretty much anything you ask.  Our cruise was sold out, but it didn't feel that way in terms of service or space.   Headliner shows were spectacular.    We loved my time dining.....our servers made us feel like family every nights.   Tips on how to navigate at the ports of call was helpful.

Average Experience Overall by missscarlett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Always fun to meet new people - both passengers and crew.  The food was okay, not exceptional; a few shows were exceptional; the mattress was very hard; the staff in the main dining room at breakfast seemed rushed and made mistakes regarding getting the right order and serving meals at the same time. We prepared for self assist departure by reading the instructions left in our room and listening to the Activity director's explanation of the process on closed circuit. This was all for naught since we were herded (literally) into a tangled web of lines in the casino to wait until line began to move. Don't know what happened, but changes in procedure should have been communicated over PA system.

Amazing trip by lenaanisimova

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

Lots to do on the ship. Didn't like spa people. I would add a pool for children who are not diaper trained. Ship is not baby friendly. I would strongly recommend this cruise.

Great fun but cost cutting apparent by tonygno

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean still provides a great value in cruising.  Ship was newly refurbished and it showed.  Service, especially cabin attendant, was uniformly excellent.  Great food at specialty restaurants.  Main dining room showed signs of cost cutting with lobsters the size of large shrimp and tiny scallops. Entertainment choices were limited to comedians and only two production shows ("Saturday Night Fever" was excellent), again signs of cost cutting.  We noticed more hawking of packages than previous cruises, to the point of distraction.

Great Ship, Amazing Trip by Cruiser90316217

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The dining experiences were outstanding with great staff and food.  Liberty of the Seas was in immaculate shape - clean decks, rooms, topside - beautiful and maintained.  Port stops were great - Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica.  Onboard announcements could be improved - speaker system or mic system made nearly every announcement uninterpreted.

Nice vacation by ZoyaD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I wouldn't say it was spectacular.

The service is amazing as always, the food was good, entertainment not as great as I've come to expect from RC.

Adventure Ocean was great, the kids had a lot of fun.  It was spring break, so it was really crowded, but they didn't mind that at all.

Slipped on ship by penny2313282418

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I slipped in the atrium area (on my first day)  because of standing water. I went to see medical and found out I dislocated my elbow. Although times I had to wait awhile, the staff Orthopedic Dr. was great!! Everything I like to do is water related, Therefore this put a damper on my cruise and I actually couldn't wait to get off the ship. We have saved for years to take this cruise. I asked if there was anyway we could be reimbursed for future cruise and they offered us 15%. So I will not be returning to this cruise line again.

Husband time by swangobaldo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very relaxing, very organized, except for the Roatan Excursion which I need the Cruise company should be more involved and making sure that the excursions are on time, that we have the transportation available, and the guide tours are competent.

Great time with family and friends! by robertbommarito

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Weather was great. Ship was awesome and the staff was very friendly and service oriented.  Only issue was getting on the ship.  We arrived at noon and it seemed like everybody else did as well.  It took about 90 minutes to 2 hours to get on the ship.  Main dining room was excellent.  Pools were fun and always tons of serving staff around to get you a drink.  I would recommend this trip to any family or group looking to have a good time.

1st Time Was Amazing by Georgia66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first time cruising and we were terrified once we were on the ship and hit the open sea there was not turning back!  Ha but we did not want to turn back loved the whole experience.  The ports were not what I had expected would of like to have the beach at my feet without having to plan an excursion but still had a great time exploring the shops.

Wonderful spring break cruise by Cruiser93923511

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We went as a family group and went for this spring break trip. It was a little crowded due to the timing, but the ships crew and staff made this experience an amazing and memorable one. Cabin was always cleaned, extras always provided as requested, and dining room staff positive, polite, and ready to please!! Very enjoyable vacation :)
