Review summary

We loved our time in Galveston before the cruise. Great little town full of history. Thoroughly loved the staff on the cruise. Edison and Joe, our waiter and asst. waiter, always went out of their way to see that we were taken care of. They gave the best recommendations, and made sure we ate well, and ate plenty! They were like family by the end of the cruise. Our housekeeper, Obie, was also awesome. Always available with a smile, and kept our room looking fresh and inviting! Our excursion, the Best of Roatan, was the biggest disappointment of the trip. Please avoid this option. Belize and Altun Ha was AMAZING. Our tour A Tale of Two Cities, and our guide, Pedro(who could be a twin of Eric Estrada or Wayne Newton), made the history and culture of Belize come to life! This country is a gem in the middle of Central America. We didn't travel away from the port of Cozumel, and therefore, just experienced a lot of shopping. What no one told us about the inside stateroom was how great we would sleep because it was so dark!  The bed and pillows were fantastic!

We were on deck 9 and in the middle of the boat...definitely less movement here than on the ends of the ship. The bed was amazing and the pillows were just the right amount of fluffy and soft. We didn't realize that housekeeping would come through multiple times per day to keep the room and towels fresh and inviting. We wondered if an inside room would feel claustrophobic, but it didn't! It was similar to our travel trailer/camper.

Ship tip

Bring a lanyard for your seapass. Otherwise, you'll want to buy one onboard. We also brought insulated thermos' to fill up with ice water throughout the day. It was priceless to have! Don't skimp on your sunscreen. The sun is intense!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Go see the short film at the Pier 22 about the historical flood of 1900 and pirate Jean Lafitte. Each is only about 20min but very interesting! Beautiful old homes in the city and inviting Seawall beaches.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Definitely avoid the tour, Best of Roatan. It made us decide we never wanted to return there.

Address was 8502 Seawall. they have a Best Westen Plus right next to it and the only difference we could see was that the rooms all faced the ocean. Our hotel did not.

It is too far to walk and we didn't ask about leaving our car here. We paid $70 for terminal parking.

We are leaving today and stayed last night at the Best Western on Seawall Blvd. The hotel just opened after renovations 2 weeks ago and was great, clean and a decent price. We had booked somewhere else and when we got there to check in at 8pm they told us they cancelled our reservation since we weren't there by 4pm!!!! I was very mad!! Anyway, we jumped on expedia and found this room which ended up being much nicer and almost $100 cheaper for the night.
