Review summary

I like cruising, and I like that cruises are again an option post-Covid, but it's good to have low to medium expectations on a slightly older ship with sub-par ports. A cruise is what you make of it. Have great travel companions, plan good excursions, and get a balcony room so you can get away from the crowds and still see the sights.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
As with all embarkations, it sucks a little, but they have a good streamlined process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The people and service were excellent. The food was, well, cruise food - lots of it and decent. Nothing was horrible, but nothing really "wow'd" either. I would love for them to provide a way of accessing fresh drinking water in our rooms. It's easy to get dehydrated on these boats (sun, booze).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools and hot tub (clean, not too crowded), bingo, nightly shows (fun!).

Entertainment

5 out of 5
They had several good shows, including an ice show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The people and service were excellent.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is older and could use an update at some point soon. But it was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Nice balcony cabin with sofa seating area. Good for 2 people (or 3 if you like each other). Older amenities. Steward kept it tidy and clean.

Ship tip

The 14th floor seating/bar area is a gem. Great view of pool/activities and good bar service. Quiet and nice seating.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Better than flying all the way to Florida! Streamlined drop off and check-in at the port.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

2 out of 5
Small, encased little port. Either don't get off the ship, or plan to do an excursion. (Swim w/ dolphins excursion is right off the ship.)

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

1 out of 5
Dumpy little port, didn't even get off the boat. Either stay on the boat, or plan to do an excursion.

Belize City, Belize

1 out of 5
We tendered (ship anchored and 30 minute ride on small boat to get to shore), so didn't go to shore.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Nice, clean, diverse-shopping, walkable little area. Also ventured into Cozumel a little (walk) and had a nice ocean-side fajita lunch.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarking never fun - lots of people who don't like to follow the rules... Just check your bags the night before and plan to disembark around 9:30 am. Well worth it.
