Review summary

I have to give Royal a thumbs up for a first cruise by Liberty in over a year. The staff and crew were terrific.

With all the health protocol's in place I think it went surprising well for the first cruise out of Galveston in over a year.

The staff in the main dining room was fantastic. The food left a bit to be desired.

Onboard Activities

The pools were well maintained and not crowded. There were only around 1700 passengers on this cruise.

Entertainment

A few of the activities were scaled back to adhere to social distancing but all in all I think they did a decent job for a first cruise.

Service and Staff

Our waiter Noriel and assistant, Lizette, were terrific. I couldn't be more pleased with our room steward, James. I had some things I needed for my CPAP and he was able to provide them to me immediately.

The ships design was ok, but it is starting to show its age. Needed some paint, rust removal and cleaning.

The cabin was well maintained. No obvious damage or excessive wear. It was small but we knew what to expect.

Disembarkation was surprisingly smooth. When they called your group, you went down stairs to the terminal, got your luggage, went to a station to do a facial scan and just walked out of the building. No filling out forms.
