Review summary

We loved our time on the Liberty. The ship size is just right with plenty to do and we never felt crowded.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We parked at the port of Galveston and arrived at the terminal via shuttle. Baggage drop off was easy. Security agents were a little abrupt and there was little direction given about where to go. We figured it out and did meet one agent with a sense of humor. The Coast Guard was doing an inspection of the ship which delayed our boarding process. Lots of people came earlier than recommended...us included. Thus, the waiting area was crowded and noisy making it hard to hear the announcements. Once we heard our group we boarded without difficulties.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We are Windjammer people! Loved the service from the staff and the variety of good food. We did not eat at any specialty restaurants or in the MDR.

Café Promenade

5 out of 5

My husband loved the chocolate chip cookies when they had them. This forced him to try different cookies. Poor guy. :) I enjoyed other snacks there and we often refilled our water bottles here.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

Loved the Windjammer! Christine was one of our favorite staff members. She took time to chat with us and answer our question about crew life. The food was great and there was plenty of variety for each of the 5 folks in my group. We felt like we spent a ton of time in the Windjammer. Missed it once we got home!!We also loved the greeters who danced and make sure we had hand sanitizer!

Sorrento's Pizza

5 out of 5

The pizza here hit the spot especially after exhausting excursions or for late night snacks.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We had a great time with our adult children on the water slides. We didn’t use the pools or hot tubs. My husband and sons played basketball and putt putt. We spent most of our time playing trivia in the schooner bar, playing cards or slots in the casino, singing or watching karaoke and taking in the shows. We did a little shopping in the stores for trinkets...oh and we spent lots of time eating!

Casino Royale

2 out of 5

The wait for the Texas Hold ‘em table was too long. RCL needs two tables going. The 10% rake is too high. Normal casino rake is 2.5%. Smoke was bothersome and the slots were really tight. The smoke wasn’t nearly as bad on the Freedom of the Seas.

Center Ice Rink

3 out of 5

The costumes were lovely. skaters were just ok (lots of falls with quick recoveries) Granted the rink is smaller and I’m sure it’s hard to do, but it wasn’t like watching olympians. My family wouldn’t go with me to watch, so I only stayed for a little while.

Logo Souvenir Shop

3 out of 5

Found some neat RCL souvenirs. Not a to. of variety.

General Store

3 out of 5

Fair amount of variety and decent discounts on t-shirts.

Liberty Dunes

1 out of 5

Course boards were flimsy and felt like I would fall through them.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the shows. Comedians were great. Saturday Night Fever was ok. Finis was fun to watch. The first show was awesome with very talented singers and acrobats.

Platinum Theater

5 out of 5

Impressive stage! Very talented folks supporting all of the shows. Seats were comfy. Getting to a show 20-30 minutes early guaranteed a good seat.

Promenade

4 out of 5

We spent a lot of time here enjoying the shops or food venues. We had a promenade room so we could watch parades and people watch.

On Air Club

5 out of 5

My sons and mother-in-law spent a lot of time here watching or singing karaoke.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Melissa was fabulous. She always made time to chat with us and put up with my husband’s teasing and good fun. She could dish it too :). She took good care of us in both of our rooms. Everyone we encountered had a sweet attitude and was willing to help in any way.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was clean and we saw staff sterilizing and cleaning the railings, bathrooms, and common areas often. We loved that there was hand sanitizer everywhere. Nobody in our family got sick!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Balcony was nice, we enjoyed sail away and spending time together there. The 3rd bed was a pullman & was not convenient for an adult. Wish we had gotten a balcony with a sofa bed instead. We also had 7298 inside promenade. Our first inside room experience. It was small although manageable. We thought the bay window seating would have been bigger but it was nice to have a window. It was fairly quiet after 11 pm. Blackout drapes worked well.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

did the 3 reef snorkel. had. a great time, saw lots of different fish and coral. Honestly 3 stops were too many. We were tired (probably out of shape). We had seen enough after the 2nd stop. That’s is to say, these guides kept us out for 45 minutes at each stop. My husband and I stayed on the boat for the 3rd stop. both of us felt seasick and I forgot our dramamine. We recovered after getting back to port and doing some shopping. The shop attendants are fairly pushy but they were nice.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Did a zip line and river tubing excursion. We enjoyed both. A storm rolled in toward the end of our river tubing and cooled things off considerably. The rainforest was beautiful and the staff were friendly. Yeah Mon! Enh enh!

George Town, Grand Cayman

We walked 1/2 mile or so and hailed a public van for $5 to 7 mile beach/Calico Jacks. We were greeted by a nice lady who explained pricing and took us to some chairs and an umbrella for about $25. We really enjoyed the calm clear waters as we snorkeled and looked for cool shells.

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Stayed in an airbnb for 2 nights before the cruise. Enjoyed the beach, shops, and Bubba Gump’s. Also loved going to the pier to watch the ships arrive early in the morning! Oh, we did a dolphin watching boat tour, didn’t see a dolphin then, but we saw lots of them during sail away!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The directions were clear and our waiting area was comfortable. They did start 40 minutes early so we thought we didn’t have time to eat breakfast. Turned out we would have had time. Other than that, it was easy and picking up our luggage was quick especially with a porter. Highly recommend using a porter and tipping well to expedite the process. We had 7 bags for 5 of us. yes we are overpackers!
