Review summary

Cruise was great. As typical we were treat well and ship was in good repair and Liberty will not disappoint you and plan to cruise her again in 2021 after she gets "amped" upgrade and new poolside TV screen

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We arrived at 10:40am and were through drop off, security and check-in by 11:10am. Unfortunately it was also day of semi annual Coast Guard inspection so we waited over a hour for it to finish and then board. We were on ship by 12:30 and went to Windjammer for lunch and when we got to room at about 1PM it was ready and bags were in hall too. BTW no key.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate all dinners except one in MDR and food was good as always. On lobster night they kept bring more lobster until you stopped them. We did breakfast and lunch in Windjammer. We had made to order omletts in morning and service was quick. Wide variety of breakfast foods too. They were eager to bring coffee and juice to table for breakfast and lunch too and lunch selection was good too. Did not do any breakfast or lunch in MDR because we like flexible eat times in Windjammer and quick service for breakfast and lunch.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We went to ice show which was excellent and theater too. We used casino a little and used hot tubs and watched a pool side movie one night too. We enjoyed walking and shopping on Prominade several nights. Only negative here is pool side video screen is low quality and badly in need of a upgrade. Looks like it dates to when ship was built and deffinantly out of place on this ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Ice show was very good and skill of skaters was impressive.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As on all previous cruises the staff was excellent and responded quickly to any need you might have. Really enjoyed one on one informal chats with bridge crew and Captain.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We like ships of this class design and think it is best if any ship Royal has in fleet based in deck plans. Fast ship too as it effortlessly and quickly left ports and cruised over 22 knots several days. Great cruiser.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our spacious balcony cabin number was 6660. It was quiet with decent access to ship. Big room and balcony. Fairly close to elevators and just one flight of stairs from Royal Prominade. Excellent room attendant too.

Ship tip

It's a big ship. Try to pick room wisely for quietness and access to areas you might frequent. If you want to be garenteed hot tub and pool access, go in morning before crowds.

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Nice port area and large open shopping area. Did a general island tour and beach break. Plan to return. Jamacain people are very friendly.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Very clean and modern but port area is crowed too. Did dolphin pet and beach break Plan to return to see more there.

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
First time there. Port is dated and needs work on building and drop-off and pick-up areas.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
They need work here. While it was fine at ports if call it was a bit slow at end of cruise. We waited a good bit to get off ship ( we were in no hurry though) but once off ship it went quickly and smoothly. Also we do not like Uber pickup area as while they let them drop you off close the pickup area they delegate the furthest available area for pick-ups which is pretty silly in that it is heavily used while commercial cab area is closer, bigger and much less used.

The Liberty will return to Galvaston immediately after getting Amped as it is not being replaced. The enchantment though leaves Galvaston in fall or 2020 and will be replaced by the Adventure which is only a slightly smaller cousin of Liberty.

Loved your review! We love Liberty and will be sad to see her go when she goes to get amplified. As of now, it's a guessing game as to which ship we will get in Galveston when Liberty leaves, but 2021-22 the new pier should be completed so that it can accommodate the Oasis Class Ships. Kind of enjoyed the smaller ships and kind of scared of the Oasis Class coming in. Thanks again for the great review and cruise on my friend, cruise on!
