Review summary

We had a party of 16 (friends and family),of all ages teens and above. There were enough on-board activities to keep us all busy during the sea days as well as shore days. I particularly liked the addition of a knit/crochet/hook group that met during sea days. The shows were fantastic and were well spaced to allow transition after dining. The food was very good in most cases, especially the dining room and specialty restaurants. Don't plan on a cold fridge. ;)

Embarkation

Loved having the platinum points check-in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was delicious. However, when you give something a name and description, it needs to live up to the ingredients listed. Chicken cordon blue had no ham or cheese, just Parmesan coating. Was told it was too time consuming to do an actual rolled breast for that many people in a timely fashion. (Boooo) Just call it Parmesan Chicken, then, and the expectation will be met!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The gym is spacious, with up-to-date machines. Daily stretching class was great. They should include it on the final sea day, however (not sure why they don't). Grandkids love the FlowRider. Relaxation areas were plentiful.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I must say the shows were exceptional this cruise. Entertaining, professional, funny when appropriate. Musicians were outstanding.

Children's Programs

No children with us... just teens.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Wait staff in dining areas were wonderfully helpful and very attentive. Room steward was outstanding. We did notice times when some stewards would bypass dishes outside the rooms (we assumed it was not part of their specific duties, but it should be common sense so others would not trip over them).

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout and design are great for this size ship. One elevator was down the entire voyage, however, and part of a facing on the inside of an elevator door was peeled back (hazard). Windows (I know there are a lot of them to clean, but still...) were somewhat dirty.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Since not much time is spent in the room, the size is adequate. Beds are very firm, but comfortable. The pillows could be upgraded, however. The room was fantastically clean! We were told the fridges were all kept at 55 degrees and could not be turned up. The milk soured! Why bother with the fridge then?

Ship tip

If you're using the ship app, make sure you use the refresh button or check against the printed schedule. Things change...

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Expected more shops along the seawall area near the boardwalk. In-town shops around the port area were nice, though.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Visited the Wildlife Preserve Rain Forest. Monkeys were fun. Shopped a bit.

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
No excursion here. The port area was fairly small in comparison to others, but did find some nice buys for souvenirs. Did not venture outside port area because of safety concerns.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
No excursion (but have on previous cruises). The port is large and traveling outside the port is safe.

Disembarkation

Lines are always long for customs, but expected. It would be nice to somehow end the trip on a high note rather than the cattle call.
