Review summary

Food in dinning areas, buffets, any free food was either uneatable or very disappointing.  Powered eggs!!  now that's  awful--you had to request fresh eggs or you got powered eggs???  Only good food is in the specialty restaurants--which were wonderful, however this is a obviously revenue driven tactic.

Cheap jewelry/pocketbooks/watches were hawked on deck 5 throughout the trip. Costumer service was disappointing as well....if you tipped you got better service??  Why is that?  We tipped 12.95 per day and if anyone went over and beyond I would happily tip more...Very disappointing experience. Also, English was not very well spoken or understood by the crew.

Royal C is turning  in to a cheap 2nd rate cruise line.  I will not recommend or sail with them again.

If you want good food plan on eating in the specially restaurants. Don't expect superior customer service unless you tip more.

Wow .... I don't believe this discussion is still going on. That's why I log out and will till my time board the ship.

Even Celebrity serves powdered eggs in their buffet.  It's pretty much a given on cruise ships.  Not an issue, just go to the fresh egg station and have your eggs prepared as you'd like.

Since I find people who quote themselves insufferable, I won't bring up anything from my earlier review of Liberty of the Seas in general and the food in particular. lindahoef booked this cruise with certain expectations, as we all do. All you have to compare ship food to is restaurant, school, hotel and hospital food to which you've been subjected on land IF you're on your first cruise. If you have only been on one line you have even less with which to make a valid comparison of ship food quality. So, it comes down to this: either you like it or you don't. On Liberty of the Seas I liked fewer dishes than comparable food on Norwegian and Carnival. Yes, I said Carnival. I have an unrequited lifelong love affair with chocolate and I found Royal Caribbean's to be tasteless, low quality, lacking depth and flavor even though it was brown. So many people say that the food can make or break a cruise. To us that is not a reason for the cruise to be affected. You will have a great time

bmac614    9 years ago

You do not have to buy anything. We have not had a bad meal on a cruise yet. And we will not eat at the specialty restaurants

majeskofarm    9 years ago

first time cruiser. the agent kept pushing the food so I hope it is good. they also said all the free things and shows to do but I keep getting emails about things to buy and can't find shows or show times. I hope this isn't a mistake..

I have not sailed on this ship.  Sorry to read that your experience was so poor.  Powdered eggs should not be served on a cruise ship, period.  I just had delicious scrambled eggs on my American Queen Steamboat and I would not eat powdered eggs anywhere.  If more passengers complained, ships would stop serving them.

And we won't eat in the specialty restaurants. Really no reason to. Plenty of options to us that are included. If I want to go to a steakhouse we will go to one at home

bmac614    9 years ago

Correction. Will never make the food on cruises the main factor

bmac614    9 years ago

I agree Andre8. .... So many people talk about the food on ships. I've seen where people will say their cruise was ruined because the food was not that good.... Good grief. When we cruise, we just know some hit or miss. Very easy to please. Will never make cruising the main factor

Andre8    9 years ago

When I hear people talk about the food on ships, I wonder if they notice how much food is wasted. That is one of the main expenses of the cruise industry. I also wonder why people are upset that they offer specialty restaurants on the ships. The food has to be better in them because you are paying for it also they are not preparing food for 3000 people that have to be fed in an hour, they are preparing food after it is ordered.

munchymeow    9 years ago

you will have an amazing time :)

Patricia194    9 years ago

I'm embarking tomorrow and hope none of this is true. Some people just like to complain about everything

munchymeow    9 years ago

I did a short Liberty run in June and had a great time. Food on Liberty wasnt quite as good as Explorer or Brilliance, but it was still way avove average. Anthem in 19 days....wooooo

bmac614    9 years ago

No I was just saying that he may like carnival. We never cruised carnival till recently. They are not as bad as some people make them out to be

mrsb3    9 years ago

Well.....he had an opinion but my is a "crack"? Really. I was on 20 Carnival cruises and it's my opinion about them. Glad to hear you had a good time on RC

bmac614    9 years ago

We were on the Allure back in 2010. Had a blast as well. But we would prefer the magic due to the fact that you have more ocean views. And yes we only cruise balconies.

bmac614    9 years ago

mrsb-3.... Just because he had a different opinion as yours doesn't make it wrong. And regarding the crack about carnival. We recently cruised on the magic and had a blast. Not one area where you could not understand what they were saying. And the food was probably the best we have had in a long time....

cpound    9 years ago

"uneatable" haha. I am unfamiliar with this word

mrsb3    9 years ago

It looks like this was your first cruise (don't see others on your profile ). If you didn't like RC then you definitely will not like Carnival. Then you need to pay a lot more and try Celebrity, QM, Viking, etc. or stop cruising. I am going on Allure in few weeks and I hope my cruise is not like yours. You are scaring me.
