If you cruise for the onboard experience, reconsider any cruise on Holland America. We have been on 3 cruises with HAL this year. The entertainment is pathetic. Four of seven nights the main stage has Step One dance shows. At least one night is BBC Earth projected on the screen. Daytime activities are primarily trivia, but they offer how to identify animal tracks, flower arranging, origami, coloring for adults. BORING!!! One movie per day, on the deck at 9:30 pm.

My Daughter in law and I were recently on the Koningsdam and enjoyed all 18 days of the cruise. We had to take into consideration crew shortages, due to visas taking up to 6 months to process, and supply line shortages. But just being on the water was so Nice. One thing that I enjoy about HAL is that I have the ability to entertain myself, and the opportunity to meet new people. I hope you find a cruiseline that you feel comfortable cruising with.

Thanks for the review. With 51 cruises listed, and many on Holland America, I would’ve thought you would’ve been aware that entertainment on Holland America is not their strong point. Luckily traveling to Alaska does not require a lot of onboard entertainment due to the amazing scenery.
