We were very disappointed, Wi-Fi was very expensive, food was mediocre, HAL had every way they could manage to charge extra for food, services etc(even bottled water), bedding was dirty and clinically unacceptable, wine choices were poor quality ,guest services nice, but had every excuse as to why something was unable to be changed etc(especially intercom system ).
We will never go on HAL again

Food and Dining

Unless you paid a surcharge food was mediocre at best, Lido bar had the same food being served almost every night and you knew what it would taste like even before you saw it.Quality of cooked vegetables poor, as was the variety.
Main dining room fair but nothing special
Lido Bar

Excellent staff and service, unfortunately throughout the ship, despite having a signature beverage package, the wine was poor quality unless you paid extra .

We bought a spa pass for the Thermal pool for the 24 days. I am a nurse and found the dirty scum line around it unacceptable but despite drawing the staffs attention to it little was done about it.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was smaller /narrower than the usual verandah cabin,-you would not want to be a large person or you wouldn’t fit. There was lots of storage and the veranda was nice.
Visible linens were clean and changed frequently , unfortunately the duvets and mattress covers,or pillows, were not even changedor cleaned inbetween passengers and were dirty, with hair, and stains and body fluids on them. This was quite unacceptable.
Eventually-Holland America had changed our flights for a day later than disembarkment so had provided a hotel, transport for us to enable the change. Guest services refused to honor this, even though we had it in writing from Corporate HAL and we were only able to resolve this after several emails, phonecalls(made by my son in America ) and persistent interaction with the HAL representative in the USA
Seems like you are new to cruising as NO ONE gives you free bottled water. Food in MDR is always fantastic and they are listed as best food on the seas . It may seem that your not good enough for HAL
Bottled water is never free on any cruise I’ve ever been on. If you have a beverage package, then yeah, it’s all included. If you want free, then cruising not for you. Try an all inclusive resort.
Complaining about a charge for bottled water? You must not have been on other mainstream lines because I am not aware of any that gives free bottled water (unless you have a drink package). You lost credibility with me after that.
Also, I've seen the Lido dinner menus and they change every day and typically echo what's on the MDR menu. Strange that you'd claim it was always the same.
