Having cruised before with Celebrity, this was our first trip with HAL. Would choose Celebrity in future, all things considered, just because the little details were better executed in our opinion.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Everything was straightforward and well organised. Being able to gain access to our cabin after we boarded was a bonus.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The overall food quality was good. By the end of the cruise however the quality of the fresh fruit and salad was declining. We ate mainly in the main dining room and generally the choices were adequate. We ate twice in the Pinnacle and the extra level of service was noticeable.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We were disapponted that the area around the sports court was undergoing maintenance and the decking had lots of what seemed tar spots on them. The loungers also looked as if they needed a good power hosing.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We really enjoyed the piano performances by Joel Bowman in the Ocean Bar, but were otherwise somewhat underwhelmed. The choice of piped music on the decks was particularly irritating to our taste.
Children's Programs
No children in our group
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Overall was good, with plenty of smiles etc. Howwever the service in the main dining room was sometimes stretched, especially at breakfast, as we had to ask several times for orange juice, coffee, butter, cups etc.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
With it being a new ship it was what we expected. However, as already mentioned the loungers looked dirty and the deck area around the sports court were covered in what looked like tar spots.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Everything was excellent. Really enjoyed the large shower area.
Ship tip
The overall age was high and this could be an issue for some travellers
The overall experience was good, only spolied by the number of passengers who continued not to heed the messages not to gather at the disembarkation area unless their bag color was called. This should be more strongly enforced.
