The cruise exceeded our expectations in every aspect. I highly recommend this ship. I would choose Holland America as a first option. The ship sets the standard for quality in the industry.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was very smooth. Lines moved at a steady pace.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The ship's food quality and variety was very good. Lido Deck had a very wide variety of food ranging from Asian stir fry to pasta that was cooked on order. It was great that the buffet was no self-serving; servers placed food on dishes. We tried on specialty restaurant which was very unique and tasty as well.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We did not engage in any activities.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The ship had a good variety of entertainment ranging from classical music, American standards, and rhythm and soul. Although the dancers were good, the choreography was typical and nothing special.
Children's Programs
There were no children accompanying us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was exceptional in all aspects; very cordial, serviceable and made sure that all needs were met.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship maintained an extremely hygienic environment. Very original artwork was laid out throughout the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was very comfortable and was maintained by our cabin steward who was very meticulous and efficient. We liked the quality of TV and of course, the modern bathroonlayout.
Ship tip
The ship exceeded our expectations. So be prepared to be awed.
We visited Rome earlier in the year and did most of the site-seeing at that time. This time, we stayed one night but was able to complete a quick walking tour. For the people visiting Rome the first time. it is recommended that two to three days be allocated for a complete tour.
We purchased a bus pass for the day and was able to see the different parts of the city ranging from the mountain villages to the expensive resorts. The city was beautiful.
We purchased an excursion from on off-ship provider. We did a complete tour of the city, including the village of Cabo de Lobos, Cabo Girao, and Porto Banus.
We purchased an off-ship excursion to Seville. I do not recommend a bus trip to Seville due to the quick-pace of the tour. Seville is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes by bus. Although the city is very beautiful, there was no time to take in the sceneries and local culture. We only had time to view Alcazar and the Cathedral at a very quick pace and later find that it was time to head back to port. It would be nice if the ship stayed in port an additional day.
Since the ship stayed two nights at port, there was ample time to tour the city. The city was beautiful. We purchased a two-day bus pass and viewed most of the highlights. We also took the tram to the mountain city of Monte.
