Amazing Caribbean cruise! by bobosmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Amazing cruise - staff was friendly and very accommodating. Main dining room waiters handled a lot of tables so service was a little slow. Can’t wait for our next cruise on Royal Caribbean!!!

Nice but a little off by tomika75

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas

This is a great ship for relaxing and classic cruising. Although I am prone to seasickness on her, I still sail her as often as possible. The size and the level of service keeps me loyal to Jewel.

Fabulous Cruise Aboard the Jewel of the Seas - Transatlantic Crossing - November 6 - Highly Recommend it! by 907Woman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

My husband and I have sailed with Celebrity, MSC Cruises and now Royal Caribbean. We are now sold on Royal Caribbean and it is our first choice in cruise line. I would recommend the transatlantic crossing cruise for anyone who is looking for great value, food, service and a relaxing holiday. I would take this cruise again. I think I would like to try the spring crossing in 2018 too. I highly recommend this cruise!

Gr8 Cruise Ship and Tour by SuperMario74

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Jewel is a very nice smaller ship of RC! I enjoyed it very much. Service and staff are outstanding. Food (main and speciality) is very good. Stateroom was an aft balcony room. Very comfortable, nice furniture and enough space for clothing and personal belongings. The balcony is huge with seating area and chairsbeds to relax and unwind youself. You can escape the crowed pool area and enjoy your time. Music, entertainment and shows are high professional.

My sailing on Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas by CruisinDiva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For my 11th cruise I sailed on the Jewel of the Seas this past December. We arrived at the port around 11:30. We gave our bags to the porters and then headed into the terminal, check-in was a breeze! With our passports and Set Sail Pass in hand we proceeded to the priority check-in line, received our Sea Pass cards, and were immediately able to have our pictures taken and board the ship before noon … a very quick and smooth process. Our cabins, were not available so we headed to the Windjammer for lunch and then explored the ship. The Jewel is one of Royal Caribbean’s more traditional ships. She has very classic and nautical décor with lots of natural light. She features a 10 story glass centrum with panoramic elevators that span 10 decks along the ships’ exteriors and face the sea. There’s a rock-climbing wall, as well as an amazing indoor Solarium that is only available to adults. You also have the option of an outdoor pool, spa and a fitness center. There is a sports court that has both basketball and volleyball court, an indoor and outdoor country club that has a great golf simulator and for the kids…mini golf! There’s even a lounge with pool tables that level themselves to match the motion of the ocean! Besides all that there are many intimate “nooks and crannies” that really give the ship a different feel. The centrum, is topped by the Crown and Anchor Lounge on Deck 12. Off of the centrum are many of the major venues such as the Windjammer, Schooner Bar, and the dining rooms. The only major venues at the front of the ship are the Coral Theater, spa, and the Solarium. The Solarium is beautiful and very peaceful. Our cabin was on Deck 4 right off the centrum, making it the most convenient cabin I have ever occupied. I’m trying not to compare but try to imagine how nice it is to be so close to everything, breakfast, theatre, shopping and the casino! It’s all right there! I will be the first to admit I personally love the HUGE ships. My last 3 sailings were on the Disney Dream, Norwegian Epic and the Allure of the Seas. (All of these hold over 4000 passengers) yes, I like to have the WOW factor! You can imagine what a major difference this was! I do see where it would be better and more convenient for certain people with mobility issues or those wanting more of a relaxing experience. One thing I did dislike about this ship is the walking decks. On the pool deck, the jogging track has many little turns and bends which makes it a pain to use once you throw in other walkers/joggers and people who move their chairs into the track. You also don’t realize they are there until you are about to get run down! Overall I left with a very positive impression of the Jewel, especially some of the gorgeous artwork on in the stairwells. Check out all my pics.. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151288367793853.475822.142061353852&type=1&l=2515da7706

Normal, no excepcional by aiturreg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Losing royalty by Cccp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Being a platinum member of RC, having sailed already for 47 nights before this cruise only on royal Caribbean, I must say:

food quality has been decreasing rapidly

state room cleaning very poor

overal animation, very poor

bartenders not very polite

takes for ages to get your drink

premium waters almost unavailable ( Evian, Perrier or San peligrino)

when you ask some one to solve a problem or get you a certain drink, of it's not available, they simply say, they don't have, and don't solve.

ropes on cabin gone

chocolats on evening, gone

minibar with drinks, you have to ask to get it filled

cupons with discounts, as low as you could think of...

...

gone too big for me with so low quality... was turning onto emerald on my next cruise, but, no Thanks!

any one want's a platinum membership? (It's worthless anyway...)

Alaska Cruise Aboard the Jewel of the Seas by martinmayer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our first cruise and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. The state room was most certainly satisfactory. We had an ocean view stateroom on the 3rd deck. The food in the main dining  room was excellent, as was the service. Breakfast is served in the main dining room and there is also a breakfast buffet in the Windjammer lounge. Either is an excellent choice. Lunch is buffet style in the main dining room and the Windjammer. Either is a good choice. I recommend the Windjammer if you have children. If not, I highly recommend the buffet in the main dining room. The staff is outstanding, four stars. Expect to pay for everything except meals, to include bottled water. The drink packages are not a good deal unless you drink a lot of soda, then the non-alcoholic package may be of value to you. Wi-Fi is expensive: $160 for one device for the duration of the cruise, or $60 for 24 hours! Also consider that you will be at sea for a total of two (2) day. The cities of Juneau and Skagway are not all that interesting in themselves. The normal shopping is available: Diamonds International, Tanzanite and etc. Yuck! I recommend booking morning and afternoon shore excursions, otherwise you will have much idle time on your hands. Entertainment is good to mediocre. Do not expect Broadway or of Broadway. If escargot and or Manhattan Strip steak is on the menu, pick something else.  Do not sleep through the Fiord sailing. Get up early, be on deck no later than 0600. It's the most exciting day of the cruise.

Took a Balcony Cabin on Deck 9 Midship. Tied looking cabin, wood work chipped and scuffed, bathroom tatty with paint peeling and bathroom closet doors marked and damaged. Not what you expect from a four star ship. Service in Diamond Lounge was good. Main Dining room food absolutely awful on first formal night so on second formal night we were moved to either side of dining room. Service there was excellent but food awful once again. All other nights we ate in speciality restaurant in order to get good quality food but begrudge having to pay for this just to escape the main dining room. As a Diamond Member we have given RCL our Loyalty but we are seeing very little loyalty coming back. The price of drinks along with the 18% gratuity charge is extortionate outside of Diamond Lounge hours and having 3 drinks vouchers to be used anywhere is pointless when RCL are resting this the Diamond Lounge hours only. Loyalty should allow the 3 vouchers to be used at any time of the day. Come on RCL up your game or loose your loyalty members.

Christmas in the Caribbean by jules220

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This is our 6th cruise.  Choose this cruise because of the departure port, my in-laws favorite cruise line and that we would be visiting a different port each day.  What I dislike most about RCL is they do not allow travel irons.  Claim for safety reasons, haven’t had this issue with NCL.

Dining: Ate breakfast at the Windjammer buffet with a selection of many items for any taste, same selection every day.  We had breakfast one morning in Tides dining room and the food was lukewarm.  MDR for dinner each night, food was surprisingly good.  A few misses like the French Onion Soup and the steak. Favorite dessert warm chocolate cake with ice cream.

Entertainment: Amicable cruise director but evening entertainment was boring, it’s a good thing we were off the ship all day and needed to wake up early to go onshore.  Would have been nice to have more variety of entertainment at different hours in the evening.  Other than Christmas Eve shows the most entertainment we experienced was the sea day/last day on ship.

Enjoyed each of the 6 ports visited. Embarkation & disembarkation was a breeze.   Overall, the crew was great; everyone we encountered was friendly & attentive.
