Review summary

We had a great time, we were celebrating our March 3, 2022 wedding. I would caution people to realize that everything is extra and the costs can add up very quickly. Because of this we don't know when we will take another cruise vacation but I was so happy to be able to share this experience with my new husband who had never been on a cruise.

Embarkation

Quick and easy. Only glitch was it took a long time for our luggage to make it to our stateroom but I understand as the ship was fully booked

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food in the main dining room and Windjammer buffet was excellent. So many choices in both locations and the food was delicious.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We love love loved the saltwater wave pool in the adult pool area. We would have liked more time in the jacuzzi but they were often full, with children, which was posted as being against the rules but parents and ship staff did not enforce this. That was super annoying.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was awesome and we liked that you did not need reservations. Plenty of seating and open bar, with crew that made the rounds to make sure no one's glass went empty

Children's Programs

Kids are grown and on their own. Thank God.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
It was excellent. Our servers in the main dining room, Dave and Renato, definitely deserved all the tips we gave them. We learned in our trip that the crew members in all areas of the ship really bust their butts and we felt they were probably not compensated for their hard work and awesome work ethic.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very well maintained but definitely showed its age in some areas. For example upholstered chairs in most of the lounges were very dirty and this was very evident during the daytime with better light.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our stateroom was very nice and we loved the bed! So comfortable. Clarke, our housekeeper, kept the place spotless.

Ship tip

You can take your chances booking excursions with local people in the ports of call but keep in mind if they do not get you back to the ship in time you will be left behind! If you book excursions with the cruise ship you do not risk being left behind.

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Very clean and food and beverages were included as the island is owned by the cruise ship. It was clean and beautiful but beware the merchants in the shops can be very in your face. We did the Sandbar Island excursion, it was very nice, we booked it after our originally planned excursion was cancelled by the cruise ship. Kinda felt like we should have gotten some kind of price break because of this but we did not.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

WE took a bus tour with a local tour provider ... it was OK but San Juan is a pretty nasty place ... I guess it was good to see the good, the bad and the ugly.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Very beautiful, we did a beach excursion through the cruise ship ... we easily could have done this one on our own as the beach is right there when you get off the ship and there are plenty of merchants willing to rent you a beach lounger and sell you beer

Castries, St. Lucia

Basseterre, St. Kitts

We had fun here and did an open air excursion through the cruise line. When we were stuck in traffic a local person tried to steal my bag !! Of course this is not the cruise line's fault but a heads up that tourists need to be aware they are visiting an area with lots of poverty and crime. We also got monkey scammed. When you get off the ship there are local people with cute monkeys that they offer for you to hold and offer to take your picture. Guess what? Before you know it they are telling you you owe them money. Beware the monkey men !!!!!

Disembarkation

It was quick and easy. Hardest part was locating the bus back to the hotel where we had parked our car. Seemed like no one knew where we needed to go. It was annoying but we finally found our bus and were on our way.
