Review summary

We went with family who has been on a dozen or more cruises and this was their least favorite experience with RCCL. Not because the ship was bad but you can tell they are still struggling post Covid. The employees are doing the absolute best they can and with a smile, but I know they’re short staffed, you can tell.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and moved quickly given the extra Covid vaccine and testing they had to review.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food overall was a 7/10. This is where I think RCCL is struggling with their staffing. Night 2 in the Main Dinning was a struggle, the reservations, getting people seated, you could feel the cacaos. After day 2 dinner was much better! Overall the meals where great! One day for lunch in the main dining room we ordered mozzarella sticks and they were still cold in the middle and had to send the back. It really sucks that the buffet seems to be closed multiple times throughout the day, you have to really track down where to get snacks/desserts via the Royal App. I hope they stop having employees “serve you” in the Buffet, that is not making the flow of the buffet very efficient.

Cabin / Stateroom

The Room was clean and our room attendant was so kind!! He took pride in his job.

Ship tip

While this is a older ship, I didn’t feel dated at all! However, because it is a smaller ship, when the sea was choppy, you felt it.

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

We took a cab to Darkwood Beach! It was like a postcard! Absolutely beautiful! The beach Served food, drinks, 2 chairs an an umbrella on the beach was $20.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
I love getting off at San Juan and walking off the pier through the city! I never feel the need to book an excursion, you can get to the fort on foot!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Sounds like overall it was a good cruise. I have noticed that it is different than pre COVID, but the 4 we have been on from Oct to last week, each cruise is an improvement over the one before. I can't wait until the next one!
