Jewel of the Seas

6 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 11, 2007

Ship: Jewel of the Seas

Cabin type: Suite

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship was clean and well maintained with a very helpful staff. I had planned on paying the extra money for the specialty restaurants but the main dining room experience made it unnecessary. Since food is free I had expected sodas to be part of the price of sailing so I did not like paying $40.00 for sodas. I would recommend skipping the shopping seminar since it seems to be a direct sales pitch for Diamonds International. We were very dissappointed with Royal Caribbean's recommendations in this regard.

Shopping was stressful and the salesmen relentless, especially at the stores recommended by Royal Caribbean.
Don't Miss: Royal Dolphin Swim was outstanding!!!

The Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza were great, well worth the 3 hour bus ride. We picked up tons of gifts at the site where locals were actually making them in front of you.
