Review summary

We enjoyed the cruise overall. A few rough sea days closed the outdoor venues and we couldn't use the hot tubs. The food was overall good but the staff were amazing. They work very hard to accommodate all requests and never get a day off. They need more staff but those on board do their very best. I don't like the lack of a sitting area (or even chairs) in the balcony rooms. We did like the speakers who talked about the ports and the informational sessions.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation went well but. took longer than it should because we could not preregister because we could not get on the app and NO ONE would help

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was overall good. The beef dishes were the best. Lobster one night was great the second night it was partially raw. Fish was mediocre except the Mahi Mahi which was wonderful.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The speaker (Franz) who did the informational sessions had good information but he read a script. Would have been much better if he just talked from notes - he had great information - the delivery was just dry.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Most of the entertainers were good - I've see better but they were okay. A couple of the singers were really good (e.g., the one that sang the Neil Diamond songs) and the onboard troop was okay.

Children's Programs

no kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service staff worked their butts off! 18 rooms for every room steward and the waiters had many tables to cover. When dinner took over 2 hours we knew the servers were doing the best they could - just not enough service staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This is an older ship and it shows - it was clean and they were doing their best to keep it in good repair

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The one problem I have with princess (and not on any other cruise ship) is that in a balcony cabin you don't get a couch/love seat or even 2 chairs. One chair is all you get so if it's too cold to sit outside someone has to sit on the bed. Two chairs would help.

Ship tip

This ship would be best in a warmer climate so you can spend your time in the outdoor areas.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

No excursion, just boarded the ship

Halifax, Nova Scotia

The hop on Hop off bus was way too expensive! Not that much to see from the bus. The botanical gardens were really pretty - maybe just go there and to the Maritime Museum.

Reykjavik, Iceland

5 out of 5
We did the hop on hop off here too - we rode it around and then got off at the botanic gardens. and walked down the hill to the Church, the shopping area and then got back on the bus and went to the museum. I would like to spend more time in Reykjavik.

Isafjordur, Iceland

5 out of 5
Probably my favorite stop. No excursions as we plan to go back to Iceland to see the other sites. We walked in the town and went to the museum by the Visitor's Center. Then went to the restaurant next to the museum. The brewery is great (they also have food) if you enjoy local beer.

Akureyri, Iceland

5 out of 5
another Hop on Hop off to see the sites.

Lerwick, Shetland Islands, Scotland

A lot of shopping right near the dock. We walked to the Municipal Building (a must see) and had fish and Chips at a little white building. No indoor seating so we sat on a bench by the water. Best Fish and Chips Ever! I never saw the name but as you go away from the dock it's on the right.

Cobh (Cork), Ireland Did not visit port

Weather caused a shift in the itinerary.

Falmouth, Cornwall, England

5 out of 5
No excursions - just walked the lovely town and stopped for a Cornish Cream Tea.

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
Went by bus to Stonehenge and then very quickly drove past Windsor Castle (about 3 miles in the distance). A nice bus drive through small towns and about 2 hours at Stonehenge. Dropped us off at the airport. If you have time, this is a good excursion. We took the tube from the airport to an Airbnb and stayed for another week. It would have been difficult to get back to Stonehenge since we did not rent a car.

Disembarkation

Super fast!
