So to sum this up. The ship left on time. The seas were rough and we couldn't dock in Jamaica. Met some folks that were sea sick. Most of the crew spoke broken English and at times there would be a communication problem. part way through the cruise the ship encountered the Norovirus and even the buffet became a pain, you couldn't even get your own coffee. Now I understand that these problems were not the fault of the ship or crew, but it was our 30th anniversary. Would I do it again "probably not". Would recommend to friends "probably not". It seemed pricey for what we got.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Cabins weren't ready and luggage was even later
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate mostly at the buffet and the variety was good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Hung out at the pools while at sea. Did a lot of walking.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Entertainment was excellent. If there was a problem, it was not being able to be at 2 places at the same time. So many things to do.
Children's Programs
No children. Very few to be seen. Childrens programs must have been keeping them busy.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Can't say enough about the outstanding staff. Friendly, helpful. Most of the crew spoke broken English and at times they would be hard to understand.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship seemed very clean. There was a period of 2 days that there was a strong smell of sewage outside our cabin. The crew was always cleaning or painting something. But the ship still encountered the Norovirus. And sanitation became top prioity.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our steward was on top of things all the time. Cabin was nice and clean.
Ship tip
It's a smaller ship and gets-a-rocking. To the point of them closing the pools.
We didn't do an excursion. But did get off the ship and went to the end of the dock to a tourist village of sorts to see local wildlife and gift shops.
Going through the "old" canal was pretty interesting in the beginning being guided by the mules (trains). We could not watch from our level 7 balcony and trying to see from the bow 5 people deep wasn't happening. The ships crew tried to make such a fun time and fell short.
Our excursion took us to a aerial tram through the rain forest with a radio talking about plant and wildlife. the tram took us to a 10 story tower that looked over the forest "very cool". The bus then took us to the ship in Colon, what a run down city. Not a place I would want to get off the bus. Oh did I mention "Gift Shops"
We did the Zipline excursion. Never ziplined before. Too much fun. The people there were very professional and safety was the most important thing. They took pictures and videos you could purchase at the end. Once again town was pretty rough. Oh did I mention "Gift Shops"
Now this place was much nicer. The ship tendered you to shore to pick up your excursion. Many shops here, but felt safer and welcome. We took the sub ride to see many fish and coral. The water was so clear that there was plenty of light 100 ft down.
