Review summary

CARNEVAL IN RIO MADE TRIP WORTHWHILE. This is an unique experience which has to be experienced and is almost indescribable.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
too few personnel hired to process pax especially after norovirus delay, unnecessary long lines

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Princess food offerings quality and selection have deteriorated. Buffets were usually identical each day. Restaurants had some unusual choices. And the ANYTIME steak selection is no longer. Lobster one time in 23 days and shrimp in only a couple of times.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Island Princess is a comfortable ship. The professional entertainment program on this cruise was top notch,

Entertainment

5 out of 5
World class musicians, singers, magicians performed to extremely happy audiences.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This crew was about the best which we have ever experience from the dining room waiters to the room steward. The front desk came through when we needed them.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The addition of a couple of dozen cabins make the ship less pax friendly than it was in the past. Public rooms had to be moved and the full promenade deck had to be abbreviated and makes walking a lot more difficult than it was in the past. Ship was generally well maintained but constant crew repairs on promenade decks and lifeboats were unpleasant.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
nice size cabin which is well maintained

our attendance at CARNEVAL was an incredible highlight. Ships personnel and local tourism people made attendance at the SAMBADROMO flawless. The scale of this event is truly overwhelming. On our return to the ship at 4 A M, we had only seen 65% of the samba schools. This was our choice to return.
