Review summary

It was a relaxing and enjoyable time. The crew were helpful and understanding when my wife needed to return to Australia for a funeral from the Cayman Islands. It was greatly appreciated and they made a very stressful and sad time more manageable.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was good, although I missed the luggage drop off (I didn’t see any signs). Later we ended up on the wrong side of the building and someone had to go across to get our cards (the person at the start of the line didn’t notice we were in the wrong place either). Everyone was friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I’m a fussy eater, but there was always something on the menu I could eat. Biggest problem was the weight gain by the end of the trip...

Horizon Court

4 out of 5

Mostly good. Occasionally difficult to get seating, ended up having to go outside a couple of times (which was ok).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Fitness Centre had good hours, except last day (closed early without warning). Outside movies were generally good (great screen!!). Ping pong. Hot tubs.

Gymnasium

4 out of 5

Hours were good (the online system had the wrong opening hours), plus the last see day it was shut early without notice.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Most of it was good. People complained about the different show times each day instead of the same everyday. I actually preferred the changes, I could see the event times online and work around them.

Princess Theater

4 out of 5

Seats were comfortable. Had trouble seeing from the very back, but only when the ceiling projector was being used

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was friendly and did a great job.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Most things were clean. The only issue I had was the smell on Deck 7 Starbourd forward, just after the doors next to Princess Theatre. I couldn’t walk there without feeling ill.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was good, however, the balcony was too narrow for the chairs we had ie we could not both recline at the same time. The shower was also very small, with a sticky shower curtain

Ship tip

Take a lanyard onboard.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
No excursions, it was embarkation point.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did Yelapa & Mahajuitas Beach tour. It was ok, the best part was the trip back to port, the crew were amazing and very entertaining.

Huatulco, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did Five Bays By Catamaran & Swim tour. A nice quiet port, clean and not too touristy.

San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua

5 out of 5
Did Mombacho Volcano 4wd And Hike, Vistas & Lunch. Very good.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

4 out of 5
Did A Walk In The Clouds. The butterfly part was a bit disappointing, but ok (may have been the tone of year?). The food was great (we were told it was the first time they did lunch there).

Panama Canal Transit

4 out of 5
This was a highlight, passing through the locks was great. No excursions here (none available or needed).

Cartagena, Colombia

4 out of 5
Did the National Aviary Of Colombia tour. Very good. The time at this port was too short (we left around 3pm).

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Needed to change excursions (not enough people in Certified Scuba 2-tank Diving Of West Wall). Did the one with a wreck (much better, very pleased I did it).

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Disembarkation port, no excursion booked. Process was delayed due to faulty exit. Delay was only 20min which wasn’t a problem for me.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It went smoothly, although the US immigration was slow (same as other US immigration entry points). I don’t know why they need to be mean and unfriendly (this hasn’t changed for over 30 years of my travels), other countries manage to be nice most of the times.
