Review summary

A very nice, albeit always too short, getaway to get my fix of the ocean and sun! Some things have changed over the years with RC that make me long for cruises of the past, but it is still a great value with a mostly consistent quality that we can count on.

Embarkation

Super easy to check in and get aboard

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Quality of food and drink available, unless you pay extra for the specialty dining, is really declining. There were a few nights that nothing on the MDR's menu appealed to us so we headed to the Windjammer - only to be disappointed there by choices and overcooked chicken and tepid food. The salad bar is always an option but we weren't very happy with the other choices. The new fast restaurant by the pool, Fish and Ships, was a nice diversion but being fried food, not something you could eat every day.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The solarium pool was ridiculously crowded and if you didn't get a chair by 8 am you were out of luck until very late in the day. If you are into the flowrider, rock climbing, etc. you can definitely keep busy -- for those looking for more sedate activities, it is limited. I go to relax so as long as I can find a deck chair with a view, I'm happy. Karaoke is always fun and the hosts had a great presence in getting many to sign up.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Grease and the ice show was very well done. The first piano player in the Schooner Bar was fantastic, and most times ended up in sing-a-longs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was amazing. Willy, in the Diamond Lounge was fantastic and very personable. The waiters, assistant waiters, bar personnel and room stewards work SO hard for us and are always so warm and welcoming.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As always we wish the bathroom was a bit larger but for a regular OV Balcony cabin, it worked. We know that it is difficult to retrofit the cabins, but we do wish we had more outlet options, especially by the beds.

Ship tip

Bring comfortable shoes as you may end up doing a lot of walking from place to place unless your cabin is near an elevator. Due to the layout, don't be afraid of cabins near the elevators!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

The terminal and services made arrival and departure super fast and easy.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Wonderful facility. This time we stayed at the Oasis pool and really enjoyed it. Great that you offer the tram services for those of us that have trouble walking distances.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
While going to Cozumel is getting a little tired, we headed to a beach club and had a good day.

Disembarkation

Super fast and easy. We were off the ship and in our car before 8:30.

Appreciate your feedback. Sadly, I think you are correct that many good things aren’t as they were before the shutdown and it doesn’t appear they will return. Glad you still enjoyed your cruise. I agree it’s still a good value for vacation dollars.
