4-Night Cruise that started in Port Canaveral then went to Perfect Day at Coco Cay, Nassau, then we finally had a day at sea on the last day of the cruise.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
It was good as we arrived late, but the security line still took a long time. Other than that it was mostly quick.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Buffet food was okay to say the least. The dining room food made up for whatever food was served in the Windjammer. However the Windjammer Marketplace’s food was boring to eat and it always seemed like the food had been sitting there for a while. Also, the drinks weren’t self service and you would go and pick up a drink that had ended up sitting on a tray which mixed with water made the drink watery. Also, the buffet lacked variety. Overall, we didn’t enjoy the buffet food. We also didn’t eat at any specialty dining venues.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
I was able to complete all of the activities, which most of them were fun. The only major complaint is that there is a long line for everything. I think I ended up waiting an hour for Flo Rider, 45+ minutes for a slide, and almost 2 hours for Sky Pad. Those lines made the activity not worth it, but the activities alone were good, save for the lines.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
It was okay. The shows were long and boring and the musicians weren’t great. It was just mediocre.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
My kids went once and they didn’t like it so we never went back.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Some crew members went above and beyond like our room steward or other staff. Those people were great and made this cruise great, but a large majority of the crew were just there and they wanted to not be there. There was a lack of smiles and service. Some bartenders were outright rude and unpleasant. As much as it pains the crew who were exceptional a vast majority of the crew weren’t great.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship seemed clean for the most part. There as always is a few exceptions, but overall the ship was good. The layout however was a little confusing and difficult. Deck 5 was great, but nearly every other deck (except for most stateroom decks) were difficult. The buffet also only had one entrance and this caused a lot of traffic jams.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Great cabin. The size was good and the balcony was very big. It was one of the rooms at the front that had glass facing the front which was a pleasant surprise. It was a lot better than our room on the Harmony of the Seas.
Ship tip
Sail on a Carnival Cruise as the value is a lot better and overall experience.
Amazing island! The renovations were great. Even though it rained for the entirety of the morning, we still had a perfect day. We bought the Thrill Waterpark pass and this was ultimately worth it. We spent the first half of the day at the water park (while it was raining which worked to our advantage) and it was great. The island’s beaches were just okay, but the food was great. I highly recommend their funnel cake at the snack shack.
No organization at all. It took us almost 2 hours to get off. We are so used to Carnivals disembarkation which has always been smooth, but this is far from it. The line even to get in the gangway took forever. The line was long and unorganized. In addition, families would just cut into the line which only added further chaos to the process.
Sorry you were disappointed. It’s amazing to me how different people have different experiences on the same sailings. But, we had that when sailing with good friends. We were extremely disappointed (we had different boarding issues and a poor room steward) and they booked another cruise on the same ship because they had such a good time. Hope your next cruise is better!
I was on this cruise and had a totally different experience. The Windjammer food was great, the choices were plentiful. As for the food sitting out, it is a buffet after all. We went to Grease, The Ice Show, The Ventriloquist show, and the Welcome Aboard show, all were superb. The bar staff was great in all our experiences. Our favorite is The Schooner Bar, where the staff was excellent and Sam the piano player and singer was one of the highlights of our cruise. This was our 7th cruise on Royal Carribbean and will not be our last. Some people just need to stay home.
