Overall I’m glad I went on the cruise. But I would not advise anybody to take this boat. I am not sure why out of the chefs on this boat nobody can make anything interesting. Everything was the same every day. The entertainment besides grease in the eyeshadow was horrible. The layout of the ship is obnoxious. Every time the captain spoke on the intercom you couldn’t hear it so God only knows what was going on. When we went before our cruise director was very memorable. “Cruisin Susan “ This woman on this boat was not.

The paperwork dosent have the port address. The port is large and can be quite a mess. The papers say check in starts at 12:30 lies I like to be early and even then there were already lines and people getting on. So it took quite a wile and very confusing on where to park.

Sorry but I have been on a older boat Majesty of The Seas and I figured a newer boat would have the same amazing food. NOT AT ALL. There was next to nothing for breakfast that was even ok to eat. Lunch same thing the food was all the same nothing new and no flavor. Dinner in the dining room also no flavor and nothing that made us at all happy. I thing half the fun on a cruise is the food and we hated it .

The pools were cold they have heated pools but I guess we weren’t worth it? The golf was nice could of been a little bigger to accommodate more people but it was cute.

Grease was amazing I love the movie and the show was very good. And freeze frame the ice show as well was amazing. But the other nights were boring and hard to sit threw the comedy guy was very bad he was just bla on the family show and adult night he was not funny and vulgar and offensive.nknj don’t get offended easy and I love dirty jokes but he said nasty stuff just to say it. Not at all funny and I wanted out of that room but couldn’t leave because he made fun of every one who left.

The design is horrible sorry it just is. Have fun getting around we never went to some of the places because knowing how to go up then over and back down to places well it just got silly. Even getting to our room was silly everything we did was extra steps just to go somewhere. Sorta silly a older smaller boat was well laid out and a new boat had NO clue ....
Cabin / Stateroom

It was nice clean and no complaints about size more than big enough. The bed sucked and hurt my back.

Pick a different boat. Just not worth it To have bad food and bad layeout.
The bird walk is amazing worth all $24 for us both to see it. But Everything else is commercialized and not authentic Mexico. As well when we went the weather was horrible.
More authentic Mexico. We were able to take a taxi around the island. Still all the shops sell the exact same thing it’s like walking in circles looking at the same stuff over and over again.
It was quite a wait to get off the boat and get through customs. They had probably 15 stations but probably five people checking us off the boat. We carried her own luggage out. But overall I’m not sure how they could make it better except for to get more employees.
If there are any new cruisers reading this review please don't be put off the independence is a beautiful ship and there are a lot of people who are only happy when there is something to complain about. We have been on Indy twice and I agree the lay out is a little different to other big ships, but hey isn't that half the fun of the holiday exploring the whole ship going the wrong way when you come out of the lift 😂 Read all the reviews take them with a pinch of salt and then make up your own mind by your own experience. We loved it. Happy cruising everyone!!!!!
Have been on the Indy several times. It is very easy to find your way round, use the touch screens situated near the lifts to find directions. Never had any problems with finding enough choice of food, not sure what you eat for breakfast but I would struggle to think of too many breakfast items that they don't have available. I would agree that the flavour of some dishes could be better, I love spicycurries, but appreciate that they have to cater for varying tastes. I just ask the waiter for hot sauce to pep up dishes. As for the staff, just about every member of staff on this ship can't do enough for you. They are friendly and helpful and some of our cruising memories include having fun and joking with waiters, stewards, bar staff etc.

Sorry your time was lousy but my wife and I had a great time, the ship was great no issue. Food was great, we ate at the Windjammer. It's a buffet, not a 5 star restaurant and had plenty of food. Dinning was good, different menu every night. Room steward was great, very friendly, cleaned room twice a day. He knew my name on the first day. The coffee server was very friendly, we had her every day always smiling and had a beautiful spirit. Overall the ship was Beautiful and the shows we're blast!! We don't drink alcohol, so nothing was fogging up our brains.
You are in the minority!! Mist people live the ship, shows and food. Sounds like you are a complainer. Too bad...otherwise you might have seen what a great ship it is. By the way...they change out the water every night and cruise pools generally are never heated. Just the hot tubs.
Totally different experience over Christmas. Had great food every day. Love the layout of the ship. Very easy to navigate. Comedians change weekly. Sorry yours was a dud.
