Review summary

My daughter got married on this Cruise, which is why we booked. Seemed to be a lot of miserable passengers on board and I was not keen on the layout of the Ship (Prefer P&O) Having said that, Independence is a beautiful ship with great and friendly staff.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Wedding party of 15, split into wrong groups by Adolf Hitlers Granddaughter at Southampton, which meant we all had to wait for each other to register our cabins. Organised chaos.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent choices of food and drink, high quality too, except the toast, which was a little hard.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Good activities for the younger or young at heart, at 57 I ain’t rock climbing or going on Flow Rider, crazy golf was ok but loved the large jacuzzis 👍

Entertainment

5 out of 5
One word, BRILLIANT

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Couldn’t keep my granddaughter and grandson away from the kids club.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we dealt with, professional, friendly and helpful. Top Class Staff all around.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean, except underneath all The handrails where there seemed to be a build up of grease or something, maybe a build up of whatever cleaning product is used. Wasn’t keen on the Promenade, as it was packed, prefer ships in the P&O line more, where areas are broken up instead of being one long thoroughfare. Not enough bars either, for the size of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Would be fine for 2 people but, as there were 4 of us, 3 adults and 1 child, it was a little cramped, also not that much room to hang clothes (wouldn’t like to be on a 14 nighter)

Ship tip

Get to breakfast either really early or really late, otherwise you will be walking round and round (check out the idiots who sit 2 to a 5 seat table, when a 2 seat is free). If in an inside cabin, don’t take more than 7 things each (for 2 of you) that need hanging. If a UK traveller, don’t forget you US to UK plug adapter. If you want to sit in the bar on the Promenade, make sure you get there really really early, otherwise no chance.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy, wish embarkation was as good.

Perhaps all the miserable people were miserable because they knew someone else was marrying your daughter (lol). Congrats on her wedding.

Totally agree with your post. We was also on this cruise. We did enjoy it despite the weather not being great. We would sail with royal Caribbean again but our first choice is definitely P&O.
