Best cruise ever. Oasis class ships are now my favorite!
Embarkation

Extremely fast and efficient. The only reason we had to wait was for the ship to be cleared as we arrived a bit early to the terminal. Other than that, we got right on the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We dined in the MDR all but one night. The service and food was top notch. The food was better than Celebrity (since everyone raves about Celebrity’s food). Royal actually seasons their food! Celebrity was bland... Best food we have had between Carnival, Celebrity, and RCCL. We had Chops lunch as part of The Key Program and it was fantastic as well. I had the Fillet and my wife had the burger. Top notch. We also had breakfast in the MDR most days and thought it was very good as well. The specialty restaurant we dined at was Izumi Hibachi. The food was “decent” one but not as good as our local hibachi restaurants. You pay for the show. Our chef Michael was extremely talented and cooked everything perfectly. Pro tip: they do have “yum yum sauce (or white sauce), you just have to ask for it.
Onboard Activities

Impossible to get bored on this ship. If you do, you’re doing it wrong. We loved the Ultimate Abyss dry slide and the Perfect Storm water slides. We did not participate in ice skating or on the Flow Rider. My wife did rock climbing and had a blast. There’s so much to do for everyone. I didn’t want to leave the ship!
Entertainment

Ridiculously talented across the board. I’m not one to attend shows, but after going to 1887: A Journey Through Time (Ice Skating Show) the first night, I was highly impressed. The skaters were top notch and put on a highly entertaining show. We also went back later in the cruise for a special show that the skaters choreographed themselves. Again, fantastic stuff. The Fine Line Aqua Show was also impressive. Not as impressive as the ice skating was in my opinion as it was just a bunch of high dives, splashing dances, and a high wire walk. The entertainers were highly skilled. We did not do the comedy show or the Headljner.
Service and Staff

Everyone we encountered were amazing. Our MDR Staff - Alison, Maria, Alberto, and Gypsy (our bartender) were all on top of their game. Maria made sure my wife didn’t have any food with her allergen in it. Alison and Alberto delivered our food/took our orders/kept our water glasses full, and Gypsy made sure we always had our favorite beverage each night when we sat down. Impossible to go hungry or thirsty with these folks taking care of you! Our room steward Muhumad was also fantastic. Our room was always spotless and well taken care of. He made the best towel animals as well! Can’t say enough about all of the staff on this ship.
Rustom (spelling?) in Cafe Promenades always remembered our names and greeted us each day. Can’t remember all of our bartenders around the ship, but each one was awesome! Truly a pleasure to have such wonderfully staff.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
A little overwhelming at first, but not bad at all once you get your bearings. Elevators were our only complaint as they were always crowded and slow. But other than that we loved everything. Central Park is genius and a great experience. The ship is just a modern marvel. Crew always cleaning common areas.
Cabin / Stateroom

Much larger than standard ocean view as the slanted window in the front of the ship leaves some extra floor space. Bathroom was a little small, but the room itself was a great size! Would love to have this room again.
Ship tip
Take it all in. It’s a lot, but it is the most amazing ship I’ve ever been on. Oasis Class is officially my favorite class of ship!
Did a private tour on our own. Will likely just do a Maho beach excursion through the ship next time. Our driver was insane just like all of the other drivers on the island. Marijuana is legal here, at least on the Dutch side, so don’t be surprised by that. Saw one topless woman at the beach on the French side, so be aware that you may encounter that also (we knew already, just mentioning it). Beautiful island despite the continued Hurricane devastation. Would not be in a hurry to go back, though.
Second time visiting San Juan. Our time in port sucked the first time, but this time it was perfect! We tried different coffee shops and walked around the beautiful city. There were protesters blocking the “umbrella street” and heavy police presence all over, but still never felt unsafe. We also stopped for homemade gelato. Delicious!
Plenty to do around here. We arrived a day early and went to Jetty Park to watch ships leave. Grills restaurant was delicious for dinner. There was an ice cream shop nearby as well. We stayed at Country Inn and Suites by Raddison and we’re thoroughly impressed.
Glad you enjoyed HOS, and yes there is soooo much to take in that you need two weeks. If you have the opportunity you must do an Oasis class B2B🛳🎉🥂💙🇺🇸😎
I agree... Oasis class ships are the best way to cruise!! We used to be Carnival cruisers, and enjoyed them. Then tried NCL, wasnt a fan... then the Oasis.. and WOW.. After 5 cruises on 3 of the Oasis class ships, we tried a Carnival cruise again.. and NOPE. We will never do that again! Lol We have 3 cruises booked, all on Oasis class ships.. and 2 are transatlantics!! 😀
