Fantastic vacation on Harmony of the Seas. We traveled as a party of 10 including 6 adults and 4 kids ages 8-12. We all had ocean view balcony cabins on deck 14. Six of us had been on Oasis class ships before.

Review summary

Just a great vacation. We all thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent together on this cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Probably the quickest and smoothest of any of our cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the complementary restaurants (buffet for breakfast and lunch and MDR for dinner) and found them to be good. Although we had to hunt for a table in the buffet on occasion, we always managed to find a suitable table within a couple of minutes. We really enjoyed the variety of food in the buffet but was disappointed there wasn’t an omelet station there, although you could get made to order omelets at different venues. None in our party had any alcoholic packages so can’t comment on that.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Our group tried the water slides, rock climbing wall, flow rider, ultimate abyss, ice skating, zip line, carousel, pools, mini golf, and ping pong, all multiple times. We also enjoyed several Karaoke sessions. As one of the kids said “non stop fun”

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Probably the best of any cruise we have taken. We saw all the shows including The Fine Line Aqua show (which should not be missed), Big Daddy’s Hideaway Heist Aqua show, Columbus The Musical (also great), both ice shows (1887 and ISkate), Grease, and the headliner show ( an Elvis impersonator and our least favorite entertainment). I must say that there were a few parts of Grease and Columbus The Musical which were inappropriate for younger kids and easily could have been omitted without affecting the enjoyment of the shows. In all fairness these shows were identified as such beforehand.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
The kids in our group did not partake in much of the organized kids activities since they were off enjoying other activities on the ship. Those times they did go they found ok.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward was great and made sure we always had what we wanted and needed. The staff at customer service were very courteous and accommodating to our needs. They also helped resolve a problem with one of our cabins (although it took a couple of tries to get it fixed). Best of all was the service in the MDR. I was very concerned about being able to get to all the shows on time since the earliest we could get dinner reservations for My Time Dining ( which we did 90 days out) was 6:45 and that would have been very difficult given the start times for some of the shows. But the Manager of the American Icon MDR, whom I talked to right after we got on ship, suggested that for those days we needed earlier seatings we get there for the 5:30 seating and he would try to get us a table for 10. Well we always got a table of 10 with minimal wait times. Because of his suggestion and the fast service from the wait staff, we never missed a start time.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Even though there were 6200 people on this cruise (never mind the staff) it never really felt crowded. Common areas were very clean and maintained. Sometimes paper towel holders were over packed making it difficult to get paper towels out.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
First time in balcony and will never go back to inside cabin. Room layout was great. Easy to move around cabin. Lots of storage space especially with two separate closets. Cabin was always clean.

Ship tip

As everyone says book meals and shows well before you leave. Also utilize the RC app. It’s a convenient tool to see what’s happening on ship and keep track of what you want to do

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Only one family got off here but really enjoyed the fort tour.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
Beautiful island. One of the excursions (snorkeling) was disappointing since there was very little time spent (25 minutes) actually snorkeling. Complained about this and did receive a partial refund.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Without a doubt, fastest ever. Facial recognition really sped up process.

I’d just be careful of your location on the deck. This deck is right below the pool deck. At times we could hear the footsteps of people walking above or the movement of deck chairs. This really didn’t bother us since it didn’t happen very often or for very long. Hope that helps.

Did you like being in level 14? We will also be there. Words of advice?
