The boat was large, and overcrowded. Seemed very cramped. Our vacation last year on the Oasis seemed a lot better to be honest. If it weren't for Costa Maya excursion, this trip would have been a bust
Embarkation
5 out of 5
FAST! We had an express check-in. Not sure how we were able to obtain it but literally took 7 minutes from the time getting off of the bus to the door of our stateroom. The facial recognition screen they use definitely speeds up the process. Good Job Royal

Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was just ok to be honest. Nothing special about the windjammer. I do appreciate the emphasis on hand washing. Desserts in the windjammer were pretty bland. Bacon was overcooked or undercooked, depending on the morning. Specialty restaurants are definitely overpriced. Went to Sabor the first night. The guac was BOMB, but the tacos were the complete opposite. 50 bucks down the drain. Izumi is definitely OVERPRICED. The food there was ok at best but DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $115 for two.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Royal has a lot of activities onboard. I thought they did a good job keeping up with the entertainment. My only complaint would be with the sport activities. I thought the variety was a bit on the short side. Maybe more options and more scheduled sports on the courts.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
This was one of my main complaints on board. I am worried that the quick turnaround time from sailing to sailing is having a negative effect on the moods of the crew members. Aside from our stateroom attendant, who was AMAZING, it seemed that the first two days were filled with attitudes from crew. For instance, when asking a crew member where the towel station was, she rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth, and continued on walking as if she was not interested in helping. Another instance occurred in the spa. We signed up for a couples massage at 1800. Checked in around 1745; waited in the waiting area until 1845. Got up to ask what was going on, and was given the response of "they are running behind and will be ready in 5 minutes." When I explained to them that I was told that same thing multiple times in the hour that I had already waited, I was given a response to " well can't you wait an additional 5 minutes?" Very snippy, attitude heavy response, which was met with an equally attitude heavy response from myself. But the first few days with me and my girlfriend, there were more instances of poor service and poor attitudes from staff. Definitely wasn't satisfied
Ship Quality

Maybe with these larger ships, it should come with a wider layout to compensate for the amount of people they stuff onboard
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The stateroom was pretty nicely sized. The bed was honestly not comfortable for both me and my girlfriend. Did not sleep well the entire 7 nights. The only other thing I would add...it would have been nice to have had a table out on our balcony like most other rooms.
Ship tip
Be ready for long lines in food halls, the lido, and the elevators. It can definitely be a point of frustration.
WAY TOO OVERPRICED FOR WHAT'S OFFERED!!! To be honest I think this was a wasted port. Unless you have small kids, or a lot of money to blow, I would opt to wait until costa Maya for a better water slide adventure
